About the Course

Spend a day exploring the possibilities of using felt.

Pictures, book covers, and wallhangings can be made with 2D methods. Bowls, vessels and flowers can be constructed using simple 3D techniques.

You will have opportunity to also learn how to needle felt onto your wet felted piece so you can add depth/texture as well as 3D needle felted items to your work. For example, adding needle felted butterflies, leaves, flowers etc to bowls and pictures.

Embellishments such as beads can also be sewn on my hand or embroidery stitched to add texture and details.

This is a truly creative felt-making day!

Time: arrive 9.45am for 10am start - finish 4.30pm

Location: Craft Workshops at The Studio, Guggleton Farm Arts, Station Road, Stalbridge, Dorset DT10 2RQ

Maximum number on workshop is 4 people. This class is suitable for adults and accompanied teens.

You will learn how to make felt using wool and wet-felting techniques. You can also learn needle felting techniques for embellishment.

Price includes all the materials to make a one flat project piece such as a picture or notebook cover approximately A5 sized plus a small 3D bowl or vessel plus some sewn and/or needle felted embellishments.

We use as many ordinary hold-hold items as possible to make wet felt so there is very little you need by way of additional equipment to continue this versatile craft at home - just felting wool! For needle felting at home, you will need felting needles and a surface to work on such as a foam pad. These will be supplied for use in the workshop

All the other equipment will be supplied except an apron which you may like to bring. Please wear clothes suitable for crafting (wet-felting can get a bit damp but not very 'wet').

Wet-felting can be quite physically hard work and is quite often more effectively done when standing up. You can take breaks whenever you feel you need one and, as we are working on smaller items, you may be able to work sitting down and without too much effort. We will of course help wherever possible and, if you need to sit down, we will adapt how we work to be fully inclusive.

Hot and cold drinks plus biscuits are included - please bring your own lunch and any other refreshments which you would like.

Buying as a gift? Want to buy for a special occasion and would like help making the day even more special? Can't see a suitable date? Please contact me - always happy to help!

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

What's included in the price?

Materials and tools for wet felting and needle felting are included as above plus hot and cold drinks & biscuits are included - please bring your own lunch and any other refreshments which you would like.

Excellent workshop! Sally makes it good fun whilst teaching you in such an easy to understand way. We made three lovely different vessels using different techniques with everything you need supplied. Good company, excellent tuition, will definitely be booking on future courses. Thank you!!

This course was exciting with instant and stunning results. I still can't believe I made three good things in one day! Being told what to do step by step was so reassuring and Sally could spot errors we were unaware of and point us in the correct direction before we ruined our work, that sort of experience would have taken me years to gain, if I had the time to do it! Hugely valuable.

Earlier this year I attended one of Sally’s needle felting courses and loved it! Last Saturday a friend and I did the wet felting course and loved it equally as much!
Sally is a wonderful teacher, very patient and encouraging, with a really good sense of humour! We all went home with a picture, a small pot and a bowl ( mine not really a bowl but a nice piece of felt!!) I would definitely recommend Sally’s courses and will be booking more in the future.
Thank you Sally.

I attended this course on 13th July 2019 as a follow on to a previous needle felting day with Sally to refresh the process of both needle and wet felting.
It is the third course I have done with Sally and I cannot recommend them enough. It is a very relaxed small group session which means that Sally is able to offer everyone individual tuition as needed.
She provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere along with a good sense of humour. Whether you are a beginner or more experienced there is alway something to learn from Sally’s expertise and she is happy to share all her knowledge openly and encourages you to continue with your chosen craft.
Each day offers a variety of projects so everyone can have a choice and work at their own speed which is brilliant rather than all doing the same thing.
I recommend Sally’s courses and will be booking more in the future and attending her Sunday follow up craft sessions.

This course is fantastic in all respects. Sally provided all materials necessary (and more) for you to be able to produce a really substantial piece of art. She is a talented tutor who guided me expertly through each stage, and insisted on supplying me with tea and coffee all day and wouldn’t even let me clear up. The premises were ideal and we had a lovely self contained room for us to work.
All in all, an fabulous day, excellent value and I came away with a new skill I am thrilled about.
Will be booking on another course soon!
Thank you Sally x

A thoroughly satisfying and informative workshop. Thank you Sally for a great session wet felting. I had no idea how to do it before but Sally was patient, encouraging and a great teacher. The day went very swiftly and after as much tea or coffee as we wanted, plus all the materials we needed, we all were very successful with our final pieces. I loved the day and would definitely do another.

Thank you for sharing your Birthday with us Majulaa - it was lovely to have you attend the workshop day. Thank you for the wonderful review - I am so pleased that you enjoyed learning about wet felting, and the pieces which you made on the day were fantastic! Look forward to seeing you again soon.

Attended this class yesterday and completely loved it. Sally made the class completely accessible to beginners and encouraged our own creativity whilst guiding us with the technical side of things.

With the chance to try a sample piece first we could try out some different ideas without committing to a final piece, which was a great aspect.

Really pleased with how my final picture came out and this is definitely down to the excellent guidance and advice along the way from Sally.

Would definitely return for another class! Thank you so much xx
