You will learn how to assess your piece of furniture prior to re-upholstery, age, condition etc. We will also cover relevant Fire regulations. You will be introduced to the different tools and materials used and be shown through hands on practice and practical demonstration, firstly, how to remove the old coverings, fillings. Then how to use and apply them to obtain a foundation for the top covering.
You will then learn how to cut and apply top fillings and fabrics, leading to a professional finish.
In addition, you will be introduced to and shown how to apply trimmings to finish your piece.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

I joined Alan’s class to give a chair some much needed TLC. Alan guided me through the process, demonstrating ‘how to’, checking my progress and assisted my learning by explaining where I’d gone wrong when I made the inevitable novice mistakes (thankfully, nothing too drastic under his watchful eye). During each session Alan is constantly on the go, tutoring, guiding and giving support. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and would recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning Upholstery.
