The aim of this class is to explore how to make the most of the mosaic materials you have at home, whether it is glass tile, recycled china or slate/stone. By experimenting with different cuts, surfaces and laying techniques we will focus on how to create a wide range of textures and effects within a piece of mosaic art.
We will be using tile adhesive to create these effects, and the class will cover the use of pigments, how to apply the adhesive and how to work cleanly.
You will be creating a series of samples to try out the different techniques. It is intended that these samples will serve as a reference for your future work. While sample pieces can be created to look attractive, the main aim to to learn techniques, not to create a piece of mosaic art.
This class is aimed at those who have some mosaic experience but who want to explore a different technique.
You must provide your own tools and materials for this class.
