Join me on a full day mosaic workshop in my friendly mosaic studio, nestled on the outskirts of a countryside farming town in Holsworthy, North Devon.
My class is ideal for beginners or those wanting to refresh their mosaic skills and take advantage of my knowledge and fully equipped mosaic studio. I have many colours of vitreous glass tiles, china, shiny things and bits and bobs!
I will introduce you to cutting techniques and various ways of laying your glass tiles to achieve shapes and patterns on your chosen ply or mdf shape or square board. You will learn about the properties of various bases and adhesives and be shown examples of mosaics to inspire you.
I have put together a worksheet to work through and take home showing examples of cutting and tile laying techniques alongside grouting instructions and resources. You will be given a full grouting demonstration and have a choice to grout your finished piece at home with grout provided, or to leave the piece to be grouted by me and collected or posted at later date for a nominal fee.
I do require the full payment of £65 to secure your place. If you need to cancel 2 weeks or more before the workshop date I will refund 100% of your fee or you can ask to change to another date if a space is available.

A brilliant introduction to mosaicing (is that a verb?) from Adela. She's warm, friendly, informative and encouraging. You can bring your own design to work from or choose one of hers, making it stress-free and enjoyable. The walls are covered in her amazing mosaics but somehow that was inspiring not intimidating. Me and my daughter left feeling very happy with our day's work.
Thanks for a great day Adela. Where did the time go?! Really enjoyed the day and very pleased with my mosaic tile. Thanks for your relaxed but informative and helpful approach. Would definitely recommend a day course. Bye for now. Di Willmott.
What a wonderful course, the day passed by in what felt like an hour! Adela is an excellent teacher and an incredible artist and I would highly recommend this course to anyone interested in mosaics. Thanks!
Had a fun and creative day with Adela. I have always wanted to do a course in Mosiacs and when I read about Adela’s course, I thought it was ideal and I was not disappointed with the course. I liked that Adela gave information sheets not only on the different styles of mosiacs and instructions but included where to go to buy own mosaic bits and pieces. Adela was very encouraging and helpful with tips on my mosaic. Would definitely go back again.
This course was great. Adela took us through different mosaic laying concepts, gave us a chance to practice and taught us how to cut glass tiles into varied shapes. She was very generous with the beautiful materials. We came away with our own gorgeous individual creations to treasure. And a thirst for more mosaic adventures. Thank you Adela!
I really enjoyed my day in your craft centre. It has given me the knowledge and confidence to attempt more pieces of work at home. Your studio contains some lovely examples of your work to inspire everyone. The atmosphere was relaxed and informal with delicious biscuits, but at the same time you managed to impart a great deal of knowledge and encouragement. The day more than exceeded my expectations, thank you.
Wow! I really enjoyed this relaxing workshop. Inspiring studio with plenty of space to create. Adela is very generous with her knowledge, materials and also her time. We were not rushed even when we were late in finishing.
Would recommend this day course to all.
Great day. Adela introduced the whole topic and basic principles behind mosaic in a clear and calm manner. She guided us through the day in a reassuring way, giving top tips and guiding as appropriate, but equally letting us be creative in our own unique ways.
We were surrounded by Adele’s own work which was beautiful to look at and very inspirational. The whole creative day was just fab and very therapeutic, the rest of your busy life is just forgotten about as you are too busy deciding which beautiful tile to “keystone” or “opus tessellatum”!
Really would recommend Adele’s courses to all.
Thank you Adela :)
Went to this course apprehensively as I am far from artistic. Adela was the perfect teacher and she made it all sound achievable, which it was. We were all put at our ease in a very supportive and relaxed environment, with plenty of coffee and very nice biscuits! I was surprisingly pleased with what I produced under Adela’s guidance and I’m looking forward to seeing the finished product when I have grouted it at home. Thoroughly recommended for a day’s escape from real life.
A lovely day spent in a cosy studio full of inspiring creations. The small group size, combined with Adela’s clear and patient instruction, made this the perfect introduction to mosaic making. Highly recommended.
I would throughly recommend Adela’s one day mosaic class, I initially went in February enjoyed it so much I had a second day in March. Adela is brilliant, she has lots of experience to share. Her workshop is fab with a lovely log burner, in a great location. Tea, coffee and cake go down really well while you are working. It’s so surprising that the day goes so quickly once you have chosen what you would like to mosaic, and you do get to complete your mosaic project the same day. Thank you Adela for bringing out my creativity side.
Thank you Adela for a lovely introduction to mosiac making - the course was fun, entertaining, well prepared and allowed enough time for me to complete a project (apart from the grouting but that needs to be done 24hrs later and we were given a demo and the materials to finish). The choice of patterns to use were varied and very flexible to each persons preferences and the colour schemes they chose. Location was easy to find - only downside the tea room we had planned to visit afterwards had closed when we emerged clutching our mosaics!
I loved the workshop given by Adela. Fortunately (unfortunately) the others joining us had to cancel so I had a one-to-one which was brilliant, given I have never done mosaic before. Adela was very thorough in showing me how to work, explaining how tools work, the different types of mosaic etc - which was much appreciated. She left me to do my own thing, luckily I had examples of what she produced, but I just had to ask and she helped me. She is very friendly and approachable, I felt ever so comfortable despite being clueless and to top it off said I done a grand job! I recommend giving this class a go, I thoroughly enjoyed it! Thanks again Adela.
I enjoyed this course so much, Adela is a great teacher, I always thought mosaic was too complicated for me. After a blissful 4 hours of being engrossed in cutting and sticking, and with her clear instructions and encouragement, I left really amazed at what I'd achieved. She's inspired me to have a go at home and mosaics have been ordered! Thank you so much
Both Andrea and I really enjoyed our course with Adela, after initially providing a good introduction and background into styles of mosaic along with plenty of ideas and inspiration we found ourselves fully immersed in a creative bubble for 4 hours. We proudly left clutching our mosaic masterpiece, together with grout and instructions to complete at home......only criticism, the time passed far too quickly.
A really informative beginners class into mosaics. Adela goes into a brief history of the art and how it can be used creatively today. With many of her own examples to inspire you around her shop, you won’t be stuck for ideas when it comes to making your own designs. I could have easily spent the whole day there. Well worth it if you are curious about mosaics.
Thoroughly enjoed the experience. Small intimate group. Very friendly tutor who was obviously passionate about her art and so talented. Happy with the piece i made - looking forward to the grout experience to come later this week! Thank you for a great workshop - will definitely recommend your workshops.
Brilliant tutor - very knowledgeable and passionate about mosaics. I never knew there was so much to mosaicking. It was a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. I would love to have a go at the ceramic workshop that Adela also holds.
I really enjoyed the course! It was really informative and very interesting, and I really felt like I learned a new skill. I will definitely be doing more.
My only thoughts were that I think it should be an hour longer so that we could have completed our designs.
Moon Hare Studio:
Thanks you for your lovely review. It was lovely to meet you, I have thought about your feedback and I will be offering longer, all day mosaic workshops in the future. I hope you can come to one!
I was given vouchers for this Mosaic workshop as a birthday present and I really enjoyed it! Very informative about designs and different patterns you can achieve. Lots of nice colours to choose from too!
It was a really nice chilled out session with coffee and biscuits too :)
Really good intro into mosaic, felt I learned quite a bit about the techniques involved too. Would be nice to use the materials for outdoor work next and see the similarities/differences.
A nice selection of tiles (lots of glitter!) and Adela even searched out a few extra bits when I asked for ideas/help which was really nice.
I really enjoyed the course and nearly finished my piece , ready to grout at home. I was interested in learning about different styles and techniques and used most of them in my first attempt.
I would like to try using recycled China pieces I have,so I may attend another course soon!
My sister and myself had the most fantastic time taking part in your workshop at the weekend. We were both empowered and inspired to try to make our own projects following the excellent and patient instruction. I struggle with the creative side of crafts but when tentatively mentioning what I was thinking of making, Adela knew where exactly where to look for inspiration which helped me achieve a piece I am really pleased with. I would highly recommend this course and we certainly will be signing up for the outdoor workshop later in the summer.
I found the mosaic workshop such an inspiring experience. Adela was so welcoming & eager to share her experience. Her work on display is stunning. I am so pleased with the piece I created in the workshop that I am now interested in attending the outdoor mosaic workshop
Thank you Adela
Excellent way to learn in a small group in relaxed environment. Starting with the basics of tile shapes, by the end of the session you walk away with a mosaic. Hardest bit of the class is deciding what to make and which colours to work with. Loved it !
As a beginner I learnt so much on this course. Adela was very welcoming and put me at ease. An excellent teacher who shared her expertise. There was a lot of information in the hand-out, as well as shown and explained throughout the class. We had a huge variety of materials to choose from to make our pieces and equipment was provided for us to use. A wonderful class and an inspiration to do more. Thank you.
This course was just so much fun. We learnt a lot about techniques, materials ideas and Adela, as a self-taught mosaic artist, shares all the hints and tips that she has learnt on the way. Her work is absolutely stunning - so there’s hope for us all. She is generous with materials, information, ideas and tea and biscuits 🙂. It was a great taster session and inspires you to go and do more. One thing I’d advise you to do - have an idea for a design (to fit anything up to about 6x4 inch area) before you come. Templates of various shapes are supplied including squares that would make great little wall plaques / teapot stands etc. There are about 7 in a group and it was friendly and inspiring.
I enjoyed a 1:1 course with Adela. I learned so much and was inspired by her own work on display throughout the gallery and shop. I brought home a lovely mosaic mirror and
I hope to return soon to do further courses.
An excellent starting point for learning about mosaics using all kinds of materials. Adela is very knowledgeable and was able to answer all our questions. The 4 hours flew by. I would recommend Adela to beginner thinking about giving mosaics a try.
Always drooled at Pinterests Mosaics so thought I would give this 3hr course ago. Adela is friendly and enthusiastic and wanting to share her knowledge with you. Made it easy and good fun. A good relaxing atmosphere. Totally well worth £30 and you even come away with your first venture!
Adela really knows her stuff and is passionate about mosaic. Adela led us through the process of basic techniques (initially Blue Peter came to mind!) through to a finished piece in a informal and knowledgeable way. I highly recommend this course as a first step to mosaic making or just as a fun way to spend time creating.
Throughly enjoyed this course and would highly recommend it. Adela is very knowledgeable about making mosaics. The atmosphere is very relaxed and three hours passed by in a flash! It is the perfect introduction to making mosaics.
This course is great for beginners, Adela shares so many of her tips that she has learnt. Never done a mosaic before and thoroughly enjoyed it . I have the bug now to make more. Adela is an excellent teacher and I learnt so much . Relaxed atmosphere and coffee and cakes included. Thank you Adela for a lovely workshop, look forward to the next one
I attended this workshop with my 12 year old grandson. Adela is an excellent tutor, very knowledgable and inspiring. We both really enjoyed our time and learned a lot about the techniques and design process. The time whizzed by, as we were so engrosed in creating our pieces. I thoroughly recommend this workshop.
What a lovely way to spend an afternoon, just like a child in a sweet shop, with a large range of tiles and bits and bobs( shiny things) to put on your mosaic. Very relaxed atmosphere. You get choice of different shapes boards for you to mosaic, although I had decided before I went I wanted to do a door number, she was able to give me some weather proof board, so pleased with the result. I would recommend this short course to anyone, if like me you just want to take a bit of time out or maybe you want to take it up as a new hobby.
