On Saturday I attended the introduction to mosaics day workshop. Tracey’s friendly enthusiasm made the day thoroughly enjoyable. She explained and demonstrated the various techniques needed to complete a mosaic in different mediums and then offered help and advice as we practiced them. We then completed a small mosaic before starting on our main project this will be completed at home using the contents of the goody bag Tracey supplied.
The day and the studio was arranged in such a way that it felt very safe in view of the present COVID-19 restrictions.
The day exceeded my expectations and I felt pleased with what I had achieved and confident about successfully completing my project. Thank you Tracey for a great day
I attended the introductory course which was really good. Tracey was very helpful and an excellent teacher. It was good to learn alongside others and the available materials were varied and wide ranging - lots of inspiration. I'm really pleased with the mosaic I've started at the workshop and would recommend Tracey and the course wholeheartedly!
Response from Tracey Cartledge Artist:
Thank you for your review, Helen. It was great to meet you and to see your ideas come to life and develop as you worked out the composition, colour scheme and choice of materials for your mosaic. I think you did an excellent job of it and I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished piece in due course. Well done! Was nervous but Tracey put you at ease. Very knowledgeable. Great start off project to make a decent size fridge mosaic and a more decorative piece which dried throughout the day, and with the time allotted allowed you were able to go back to and learn more quality knowledge about mosaics. Started a larger project as well.
You were given a goodie bag of materials to finish your project at home or if you live near come to her classes once a week.
Thoroughly enjoyed myself and going back for more!!
Response from Tracey Cartledge Artist:
Thank you for the lovely review, Rachel. You made a lot of progress in one day and left with two great mosaics, the completed fridge mosaic and your beautifully detailed robin mosaic. I'm really pleased that I'll be seeing you and the robin again at the weekly evening class!A great mosaic course with handy print outs and lots of excellent displays and encouragement. On the day we all made a coaster as well as a large piece which we brought home. Tracey gave us all a goody bag with grout and clear instructions on how to compete our work.
A great day with loads of choice of materials and her zest for makings mosaics is fabulous!
Response from Tracey Cartledge Artist:
Hi RebeccaTracey's introduction to Mosaic course was excellent. It was a relaxing and enjoyable day and I learnt a lot about how to do mosaic. There were 5 of us and Tracey, and after a general introduction, catered to the needs of each individual allowing us to develop our skills as we wished.
I was keen to learn how to cut and shape tiles and felt I could do this with confidence by the end of the day. I also had completed a mini mosaic to learn the whole process and I had started on a project to take home with a goody bag of the materials to complete it with.
She was extremely friendly and helpful and created a lovely atmosphere. I would thoroughly recommend this course if you want to start doing mosaic.
Response from Tracey Cartledge Artist:
Hi MegI recently took part in a glass appliqué class, making a Mandela Mosaic, glass on glass. I really enjoyed my day and was very happy with it. I have some experience cutting glass, but learnt several new cutting tips that will be very useful. We also experimented with different glues, discussed design and grouting. I found Tracey's experience of mosaic and Caroline's experience of stained glass to be a very good combination of skills. Both were very friendly and knowledgeable, both very approachable. The workshop was well-organised too. No complaints. Very happy.
