Description
Make a succulent or flower themed mosaic out of round Scottish, fools gold flecked sea slate and Lake District geometric slate. Create a tactile, elegant mosaic for indoor or outdoors in the beautiful village of Grasmere in the heart of the Lake District. A totally absorbing and meditative craft creating something beautiful and durable. You will leave with two pieces to hang on your wall. I also have a vast assortment of other stones, fossils, semi precious beads, shells, tiles, smalti Venetian glass and filati, and ceramics that you can also add to your piece. I will demonstrate my process and offer as much help as you need but you are also free to let your creative self go off plan too. It's your mosaic and your style, I'll just help you get there. Do bring your own reference material and keep it simple! The mosaics take longer than you think. The workshop will take place in 2 large, light filled rooms in the studio at my house. It is set back from the main rd, has a large garden to relax in and a resident dog and cat. Tea, coffee, biscuits and cake will be provided but do bring your own lunch. There are many cafés in the village that offer sausage rolls, pasties and a co-op for sandwiches all 5-7mins walk away. There are many options for accommodation in the village from 2 very nice youth hostels, to bnbs and luxurious hotels. The Grand hotel is the closest to me. I am new to this site but have previously taught workshops at Abbot Hall gallery and Cow Shed creative. I have also run after school art classes for several years.

Lakeland Mosaics is Una Aynsleys mosaic company. Una is a mosaic maker, kids book illustrator, mural painter and jewellery maker. Una makes mosaics from her studio in Grasmere and exhibits and holds workshops around Cumbria. Una has taught adults and kids various arts and crafts and is a knowledgeable and enthusiastic tutor.

Yes please don't wear white. I use black tinted adhesive. I will supply aprons but don't wear white sleeves!
I have a lot of pre cut materials and lots of different tools to suit different abilities.
There is space for a few cars but there is also lots of parking in the village.
