As a complete beginner to the art of mosaics, I found this was a perfect course. Emma's knowledge and teaching skills gave me confidence and turned a new challenge into a very enjoyable experience. I am looking forward to attending some more of Emma's courses in the future.
Thank you Emma.
Response from abelmosaics:Thank you for this Sue, your turtle mosaic looks wonderful. You created a very neat and tidy mosaic and I loved your choice of subtle browns and greens against the water. I look forward to seeing you again on another workshop. Emma
I felt informed about how to make my design. Emma you were very clear and your balance between allowing me to work alone and helping me when I needed it was right. I enjoyed the whole experience learning a new skill and meeting interesting people.
Response from abelmosaics:It was great to meet you Elaine and your Nazar design worked perfectly in the mosaic medium. Thanks so much for the review.
I enjoyed my last lesson so much that you have infected me with mosaic making. I loved every moment, your instruction was fantastic, which is why we can produce things that look like the picture we bring.
Response from abelmosaics:Thank you, it was a great mosaic workshop seeing your mosaic come to life.
My Mum and I had a fabulous day with Emma. We were both brand new to mosaics and had the best time. The day flew past! Emma is a wonderful teacher and her passion for mosaics really showed. I would highly recommend her course!
Response from abelmosaics:Thank you Abbie, it was lovely to meet you and Naomi. Your mosaics are well made with some great colours and textures.
Emma was excellent with the right blend of encouragement and approval. The time flew past and with a little bit of expert help at the end of the session I had a tile that I was delighted with. There were only two of us on the session which meant plenty of assistance and friendly chat. Tea/coffee was available as wanted as well as some delicious cake! Emma showed us some of her work which was amazing, I didn't realise that mosaics could be so beautiful, she is incredibly talented and very good at steering you towards making the best decisions.
I would highly recommend this course.
Response from abelmosaics:Thank you Lindsay, I really enjoyed having you on the course and your chosen design of a "Grasshopper" in vibrant greens worked so well as a mosaic. Emma
I really enjoyed creating something pretty out of nothing but broken china - each piece had a story and the mosaic preserves that unknown tale, just as your mosaics tell a story and inform. It was great to see all the colours of tiles you have - it gets the imagination going! I also loved all your beautiful mosaics and learning about your decision to focus on extremely endangered species in order to increase awareness of their plight. This takes mosaicing to another level. There was nothing I didn't enjoy!
Response from abelmosaics:Thank you for the positive feedback Marian. It was a pleasure to help you make something special out of your broken china pieces, your hare is beautiful.
Emma is an excellent teacher and a superb mosaicist - her body of work is breathtaking and such an inspiration to a novice like me. I have done two workshops now and am signed up to a weekend in January. It is indeed addictive! The workshop is a creative space with an extensive range of scrumptious materials. Most importantly, however, Emma imparts her expertise with precision and patience and is clearly passionate about her craft. I am thrilled with my two ‘masterpieces’, especially with the second - a special 70th birthday present for my friend, the design of which was enhanced by Emma’s eye for detail. I would highly recommend anyone giving mosaics a go with Emma.
Response from abelmosaics:Thank you Diana, your comments are much appreciated and it is a pleasure helping you achieve your very creative mosaics! Before the next workshop, think about your preferred Fish species/shape/colour eg you may not want a Barracuda in your Bathroom .... 😎
Thank you for such a wonderful day - I thoroughly enjoyed being a bit creative. I thought the workshop was fab - you have a lovely teaching style and it’s made me inquisitive to learn more - I will be back!! Your tuition was clear and methodical throughout and I understood what I was aiming to do at each stage. What I enjoyed most was the time out to do something creative, learning something new, your informative teaching style, your ideas and huge range of tesserae.
Response from abelmosaics:Thanks so much Alice for this feedback, I really enjoyed taking you through the mosaic process and seeing the Bee come to life!
Instruction was very clear and methodical. I liked the way it was staggered so you didn't learn everything up front then forget - rather you were shown what was appropriate when you were ready to move on. The introduction gave you a good goal to work towards... materials, tools and layout of workstation was very good. The studio was light, bright and full of mosaics... just very inspirational. We clearly all enjoyed very much what we were doing so that spirit of joint venture was really nice and having a cup of tea made for me - plus cake - great!! I've attended twice now and completed 2 mosaics. I will definitely attend again to make more ...
Response from abelmosaics:So glad you enjoyed your two workshops Nancy, many thanks for the helpful comments.
I decided to choose a robin for my mosaic as they are my favourite birds.
As a complete novice the tuition was excellent and I really appreciated the individual time you spent with me. You were never intrusive and there was a lovely, friendly atmosphere. I felt a huge sense of achievement as I finished my mosaic. It exceeded my expectations as I am not particularly artistic/creative! I would love to return and do another mosaic so please keep me informed of other courses… I am definitely interested.
Response from abelmosaics:Jan, thank you! I look forward to seeing you here for a weekend workshop to make your next creation - a Blackbird. I have lots of luscious ceramic/glass black tiles to choose from!
Had a wonderful day making my lotus flower. Totally absorbing.
I was amazed how we all created very different pieces and Emma was on hand to teach us the techniques and be supportive, guiding us with tips that somehow made us all produce masterpieces!!
Helpful to have some ideas before you go and no time for slacking as surprising how the day just flew by.
Would thoroughly recommend, you can go on your own or with a group as a fun activity to create and chat.
Will go again when have the chance!
Response from abelmosaics:Hello Sue, I am delighted to have your workshop Review. Your Lotus flower had gorgeous colour combinations and it was fun teaching you. I look forward to seeing the next mosaic flower emerge, perhaps it should be Frangipani from Singapore!
