The mosaic workshop takes place in a quiet studio, set within the historic town of Shrewsbury. The workshop is led by Lindsey, who has worked in 3 and 2D design, along with many years experience of teaching art, design and mosaics. During this one day workshop you will learn how to apply a range of tiles using the direct method onto an MDF base. There will be a large collection of tile material to choose from but please feel free to bring material from home that you would like to include. You will learn how to create colourful designs, use tile nippers safely, and grout your finished piece. There is a choice of bases from hearts, coasters or a trivet. The maximum group size is five people and the workshop is for adults. The day starts at 10.00am and finishes at 4.00pm, so please try to get to the studio by 9.45am for a prompt start. The aim is to explore this fascinating craft in a relaxed and friendly environment.
What's included in the price?
At the moment there will be just tea, coffee and water available in disposable cups. Just bring your own packed lunch, although there are some great local cafes close by catering for all tastes. Bring a jumper as the studio is well-ventilated and an apron or wear clothes you don't mind getting grout on, as mosaic making is a bit messy! There is a NCP car park just around the corner (you will need the NCP Park Pass app to pay for the parking). There are two alternative nearby carparks at St Julian's and Abbey Foregate. There is no parking at the studio. The studio is situated in a very uneven cobbled courtyard and we do not have toilets for disabled workshop attendees at the moment.
