Mosaics for Beginners - West Sussex

An example mosaic

Learn the skills required to make your own mosaics, and complete a decorative panel which could be a trivet, house number, framed artwork or even a clock face!

You'll choose from a range of bases to build your mosaic on, and plan your design, either designing your own from scratch or using one of the available templates for inspiration, then choose from a wide variety of glass tiles and learn to cut, shape and arrange them to include in your piece.

You'll be given a full grouting demonstration, and you'll have the choice to either grout your finished work at home with the grout provided, or to leave the piece to be grouted by Wendy, to collect at a later date (or pieces can be posted to you for an additional charge).

Suitable for complete beginners, you will be guided through every step by Wendy, owner of The Little Craftery, and life-long crafter.

The workshop runs for approximately 4 hours. Enjoy a chat with like minded people and learn some new skills!

If you have any questions in advance of booking please select 'Chat with the maker' to get in touch with the course organiser.

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.

What's included in the price?

All materials are included, as are light refreshments (tea, coffee and biscuits). There is an option to make a framed piece or a clock for a small extra charge (payable on the day). If you would like your piece posted to you after grouting there is a small postage charge.

We really enjoyed our mosaics class. Wendy was super helpful and explained everything really well - she guided you, without being overbearing. She was also extremely patient even though we overran our time by quite a margin. The workspace itself was a lovely oasis of calm and the whole thing was a really chilled experience. I would definitely recommend taking this class.

Tip! If you're a beginner, designs with flat sides are easier than curves! :-)

I would reccomend this workshop for anyone looking for a calm space to be creative and learn a new skill. My friend and I had fun and enjoyed the whole process of creating our Mosaics. Wendy has a lovely shop and was happy to guide us through the process and answer any questions we had. It was a great experience and we both said we would like to do another workshop at The Little Craftery again in the future.

I would definitely recommend this course. Wendy was welcoming and very well organised. She gave us very clear instructions to start with and then offered us help and advise when we asked for it. We loved the choice of all the tiles and designs. The time went by very quickly and we were very pleased with our mosaic creations. We feel inspired to try to do more mosaic work.
Thank you so much Wendy for such an enjoyable day and for sharing your expertise with us.

This workshop is excellent and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to learn something new.
The choice of mount type and shapes was really good as was the different types of mosaic tiles.
Wendy was really nice and extremely helpful and was always willing to listen to any questions I had.
All equipment was provided to ensure we could fulfil the course safely. The explanations were clear and really useful.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at this course and have already purchased lots of mosaic bits to start new projects at home.
Thank you Wendy for a fantastic few hours and more importantly for your time.

Thoroughly enjoyed some time out for myself, (it was my birthday treat) making a a mosaic of a beach hut. Something simple that I could finish in four hours, frame & put on my wall. It's beautiful & I just love it.

Wendy was lovely, very friendly & helpful. I felt relaxed. Gorgeous cosy little studio too!

Mosaic making is the second course I have thoroughly enjoyed with Wendy at The Little Craftery and I’m eager to try more! Wendy ensures everyone is happy and relaxed and comfortable with everything they need to do. Nothing is too much trouble and Wendy has thought of everything for you, from finished pieces and patterns for inspiration to drinks and biscuits. I wholeheartedly recommend any of Wendy’s courses - you won’t be disappointed!
