Skills building blocks - classes help you to create a patchwork block in one of three methods. There are tips on getting an accurate finish, using a rotary cutter and quilting ruler
Classes will rotate between traditional piecing, foundation paper piecing and impro so a booking of three classes will include one of each.
Each month we will create a 12x12 inch block which you can save up to incorporate into a quilt, frame as artwork, make a place mat or incorporate into a tote bag pocket or other craft project.
There will be a variety of different techniques to explore over the 12 months including
• Traditional piecing
• Foundation paper piecing
• English paper piecing
• Improvisation techniques
• Curved piecing
• Fabric manipulation
• Flip and stitch
Within the lesson the aim is that you be able to produce a block (or two). You will be able to see examples of how the blocks can be used with differing fabric and placement choices to create quite different looks, and discuss ideas on how to put them together or use them for other projects.
If you can sew a straight line on a sewing machine, and have done a little hand stitching of any kind then you are totally qualified to join the fun.
It doesn’t matter which order the blocks are made in so don’t worry if you’ve missed a few, you can still join in.
