Enjoy the opportunity for you and your family to laugh, communicate and enjoy a journey of discovery together, without the stresses and strains of everyday life. Many young people report that after a day spent without the shackles of social media they love the feeling of being refreshed and the sense of freedom that learning a new skill provides. I am a qualified ceramicist and sculptor with over 20 years' professional experience of throwing clay pots and producing all manner of objects.
I regularly teach primary and secondary children producing a range of models like wide mouth frogs, fishy characters, spidersaurs and other traditional hand built pots. This course will give you and your family a head start on some of the essential techniques required to produce your very own work.
Come along with your children, spouse, friends, grand children or or book in advance for a perfect treat and really ignite the imagination! The course fee is for a child 6 years -14 and a parent or other senior family member.
We offer half a day for parent/adult and child at just £95, 2 adults and 2 children at just £180. One adult and 2 children £130.
Please contact me to enquire about costs for a full day course.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
Normally, there is an inexhaustible supply of coffee, tea, water and biscuits and we hope to reinstate this curtesy as soon as the Covid restrictions come to an end
There are no hidden charges - everything required for a fulfilling and memorable pot throwing and modelling experience is included in the price; that includes, tools, use of the potter's wheel, apron, clay, tuition and biscuit and glaze firing of your best work.
I keep the classes small as I like to maximize the amount of personal tuition you receive and the amount of time you spend on the potter's wheel. This course is highly interactive, fun and you will learn lots!

We had a great time at our family workshop recently. After far too much locked-down family time we were looking for something to bring us back together. Richard’s 3 hour class did exactly that. Richard handled our two contrasting children brilliantly so that both came away feeling positive about their achievements - who knew Richard has tens of years experience in UK schools?! Reality dispelled any myths that my husband could rock up and throw a perfect teapot his first time on a wheel, (but it’s always nice to have something to work towards!) The studio was fabulously quirky and the tasks suitably pitched for our ability. A perfect solution to our need to get away from it all (just for a few hours) and simply be together. Thank you Richard!
Response from Potterydayz:Thank you for writing the review Hannah. It was a pleasure to see you all. Perhaps the teapot will come next time. see you in the near future.
