About the Course
This is a one to one, 2 hour pottery throwing class. Students will be taught by Harriet Lawson, a fully qualified ceramicist who graduated from Sunderland University in 2013 and has had various pottery studios since. Now, Harriet is located in her beautiful summer house studio in the picturesque location of Carburton, near Worksop. Less than 1 mile from Clumber Park, 10 minutes from The Major Oak and Rufford Abbey, Harriet is perfectly located for any students to continue their day exploring the local area.
In the 2 hour class, each student will learn basic throwing techniques whilst being guided by Harriet. Each student will make up to 4 pieces each that Harriet will professionally fire for you to be collected or posted out to you at an additional postage fee.
The class can be taught to a maximum of 2 people at a time and if so, the duration of the class remain at 2 hours and £50 per student. Each student will gain the same one to one time with Harriet

Harriet will provide tea and coffee throughout the class. Students are very welcome to bring a packed lunch with them however there are various cafes and restaurants located nearby that Harriet is more than happy to reccomend.

I bought this course for me and my partner to try for her birthday present and thoroughly enjoyed every second of it! The tutor was extremely nice and was a brilliant teacher!
Would recommend this to anyone, we will certainly be going again.

I bought this for my mum as a birthday present; we both went together and had an absolutely brilliant time - such good fun! Harriet was lovely and looked after us with tea, and was very patient! The two hours flew past and by the end we had created a lovely set of tea beakers, a small pot and a jug and were feeling very proud of ourselves! There's a great tearoom just down the road too, the perfect place to end the day with tea and cake (there are even vegan options!).
Thanks so much Harriet - we'll definitely be back!

My friend and I went to try out pottery as a new experience. Harriet was so lovely - good demonstration, great instructions, and a little bit of assistance when things were on a wonk.
We had a lot of fun and also made a couple of great pieces that can be used when home - a super memory of our fun time.
I'd love to go back for another go and would thoroughly recommend.

I took my husband as a surprise for our 9th wedding anniversary. When we got there, and he found out, he was very reluctant! However, thanks to Harriet, he loved the experience.
Harriet makes you feel really relaxed, and she is a fantastic teacher! My husband and I both made some great pieces that we were really proud of.
I would recommend this course and Harriet as a teacher, to anyone!
Thank you so much for a truly memorable day x

I booked this class as an early Father’s Day for my Dad as he had always wanted to have a go at pottery, we definitely got our money’s worth! We both made 4/5 items each, all to a high quality due to Harriet’s perfect tutoring and guidance. We were chuffed with the results!
We also got the option to return and glaze the items when they are dry.
Would definitely recommend to anyone who wanted to try a throwing class with no pressure and in a relaxed in environment!
Harriet also makes some amazing one off pieces! Brilliant experience!

I took my 11 yr old daughter for her first pottery class with Harriet recently, she absolutely loved it! Harriet recommended a 1 hr class due to her age and concentration levels and it was just right for her. Harriet was really patient and great at guiding her, she made 3 pots and will be going back to paint them. A great experience for anyone and a really good teacher, thankyou so much!!

I was one of the first people to try out this class and I was really impressed.
My mum and I went together, and Harriet had plenty of time and patience for us both. Her tuition was very helpful.
We left later that afternoon feeling proud of what we accomplished and a couple of weeks later we went and collected our finished pieces after they were fired in the kiln.
I’d recommend this to anyone who wants to give pottery a go.
