This course is aimed at complete beginners so no former knowledge or skill is required.

Student feedback :
"Anyone can have a go at wood carving .. I was a bit doubtful as have no artistic skills but always wanted to have a go. Sarah is such a lovely person, very friendly and very informative, and very talented. I came away with a fun piece of carving that I was proud of!"

I have run my own woodcarving business for 10 years, having graduated from Portsmouth University with a degree in Restoration and Decorative Studies. In 2015 I completed the Prince's Foundation Building craft apprenticeship scheme. I regularly run letter carving workshops as part of London Craft Week at the Prince's Foundation headquarters in Shoreditch.

Other woodcarving tuition is available if you have a project in mind, email me the details and I can tailor the tuition to you.

I have never done anything like this before so am an absolute beginner.
I was amazed at how much I enjoyed woodcarving with Sarah. She is a natural teacher and explained patiently how to carve and how the grain of the wood dictates the direction of the cuts. I've always admired her work but now have an even greater respect for her skills and knowledge. I'd recommend this course wholeheartedly. Have a go!

Excellent tuition, Sarah taught me many things I didn’t know which was quite an advancement on the limited knowledge I had. I would have no problem recommending Sarah to anyone, and would attend again if the venue was nearer. Sarah was pleasant company, made you feel welcome, and had the ability to teach in a satisfying way.
