Description

Introduction to ceramics- 8 week course.
Our courses run on the following days/times in 8 week blocks. You can choose to sign up to any of these, or if you’re really keen then more than one! Some people like to come to one course to try it out, and some keep coming back, as there’s always more to learn.

Tuesday evenings 7:15pm-9:15pm
Thursday afternoons 1:00pm-3:00pm
Thursday evenings 7:15pm-9:15pm
Friday afternoons 1:00pm-3:00pm
Saturday mornings 10:00am-12:00pm

Once we teach you the basics, you’re free to follow your own projects, and we’ll be there for guidance.

This course is perfect for beginners of all ages, but also caters for more experienced potters who just want to come, use our facilities and socialise with like minded people in a creative environment. Depending on your skill level, we can give you as much or as little help as you need.
During the course we can teach you to throw pots, make slab/coil pots, decoration techniques, glazing and sculpture. At the end of the course you will have your own finished pieces to take home.
An amount calculated by weighing your finished pots will be charged before biscuit firing to cover our material and firing costs. So any pieces you don’t want to keep can be recycled before firing.
To give you an idea, an average sized mug or bowl is usually around £6-£8, whilst if you made a very large vase or sculpture it might be more like £20+.

We believe pottery is a very relaxing and therapeutic activity and a great way to meet new people.
Come and get creative!

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 4 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.

What's included in the price?

Tea, coffee, juice and biscuits supplied!

I’ve had an amazing eight weeks on my course. Enjoyed learning all the different techniques, and came away with some lovely pots and a nice bird feeder from the slab class.
I will certainly be booking more classes here in the future, as it’s a fantastic set up and ran by two amazing people with lots of knowledge & great skills.

This has been a very enjoyable course. So much so that I have booked another one. Bob and Joe are friendly, patient and explain techniques really clearly. The facilities are great and I have been able to improve my skills. Every week I was warmly welcomed and encouraged. I highly recommend giving it a go.

My second course and so I had freedom to explore the techniques myself and Joe and Bob were always on hand to advise. A great learning environment.

Bob & Joe (& Ellie) were amazing!
Excellent teaching of wheel, slab & coiling with as much or as little support as you needed.

Good to have some ideas in the 1st few weeks of what you may want to make once you have given things a try.

Relaxed, fun & supportive course - have booked again

First foray into pottery and I absolutely love it totally thanks to Bob and Joe who have a gentle way of taking ‘would be’ potters on the journey. I have signed up for the next two courses :)

Great course and it is great to learn new skills and come away with something you have created. Bob and Joe are excellent tutors with lots of patience for those in need of an extra bit of help. I really enjoyed it, thank you.
