Description

Introduction to ceramics- 7 week course plus Raku day.
This course is perfect for beginners of all ages, but also caters for more experienced potters who just want to come and use our facilities. Depending on your skill level, we can give you as much or as little help as you need.
We will meet every Thursday evening from 7:15pm-9:15pm for 7 weeks, finishing with a Raku day on the Sunday of the 7th week. So 8 sessions in total. This day will also be used for anyone who has missed any previous weeks to catch up on their missed hours.
During this time we’ll teach you how to throw pots, make slab/coil pots, decoration techniques and glazing. You’ll make a pot or pots which you’ll fire in our Raku kiln on the final session of the course. You’ll learn about Raku glazing and other naked Raku techniques. We can also cover sculpture, depending on what you’d like to learn from us. At the end of the course you will have your own finished pieces to take home. The price includes materials and firing for up to 2.5kg of finished pieces (4-5 mug or cereal bowl sized pots), but if you make extra and want to keep them then we will calculate a price based on the weight of the additional pots to cover our material and firing costs.
We believe pottery is a very relaxing and therapeutic activity and a great way to meet new people.
Come and get creative!
