Impressions of a Summer Garden Workshop SOLD OUT

Impressions of a Summer Garden Workshop SOLD OUT

6 hour course 10:00AM - 4:00PM

Be prepared to free up and let go! Capture the freshness, vivacity and colour of flowers in the garden with a variety of acrylic techniques.

We will initially be looking at shape and form, starting with bold tonal marks. We will then explore gestural energetic mark-making and exuberant use of colour to capture the impression of flowers.

Along with selective use of collage to introduce a contrast of texture and definition, drawn marks can be added as a foil to the looseness of painting – this is definitely not a botanical painting class!

Lots of step-by-step demos & individual help.... a basic knowledge of acrylics is useful.

What to bring:

In case of bad weather please also bring other reference to work from – photos / sketches of gardens / allotments / parks etc (ideally with a structure of some sort….fence / trellis / shed / canes etc)

Heavy watercolour paper or canvas board

Heavy cartridge paper or pad for initial studies and exercises

Clipboard or drawing board and bulldog clips – we will be sketching & painting outside if the weather allows

Posca pens if you have any (or similar paint markers) – don’t buy specially

Oil pastels or artists crayons such as Neocolour - whatever you have (don’t buy specially)
