This two and a half hour workshop provides the perfect opportunity to develop your Gelli Plate prints into a mixed media work of art. If you have not attended a Gelli Print workshop you could bring your own images that you would like to work with e.g. photographs, magazine images etc.
The workshop will be divided into the following stages:
Stage 1 - Inspiration
We will look at different artists work to gather inspiration for your mixed media piece.
Stage 2 - Design Tips
We will explore possible layout designs and experiment with composition, focal points, choosing a colour palette and balance.
Stage 3 - Sampling/Techniques
We will experiment with a variety of mixed media techniques, developing your Gelli Plate Prints using collage, creating texture with modelling paste and using distress inks to add colour. You will also learn how to die-cut shapes to build embellishments. We will also explore stitch and adding text/phrases.
Stage 4 - Creating your own mixed media piece
You will then apply your preferred techniques to create your own unique mixed media piece.
Clare will support and guide you through this process and help you to achieve your desired results.
This workshop is suitable for both beginners or people with more experience that are looking to develop their skills.
This workshop is designed to develop your Gelli Plate prints created in a previous workshop with Clare but you are more than welcome to attend the workshop and bring your own images to work with.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.

Myself and my friend had previously attended Clare’s Gelli Printing workshop where we were introduced to the basics and shown techniques and tricks to produce some wonderful prints. Clare had a wealth of resources available to help inspire our imaginations and utilised easily available resources to produce unexpected results. We immediately booked onto her next workshop where, working with our original prints, Clare showed us how to manipulate, embellish and layer the pieces to design and produce our own original piece of mixed media artwork. We look forward to attending more of Clare’s workshops in the near future.
Response from Clare Cosens Designs:
I’m really pleased that you both enjoyed the workshops. Many thanks for your kind words and encouragement. I hope to see you both again in the near future.Loved this workshop! Clare was really inspiring and full of helpful hints and tips on how to create our mixed media piece.
There were lots of materials available for us to use which included embossing, pastels, moulding paste, foil to name a few. Clare demonstrated various techniques and how to use each of the mediums.
Highly recommend this workshop.

Many thanks for your kind words. I’m really pleased you enjoyed the workshop. Your mixed media landscape looked amazing.Wow! what a great morning I had. No clue what to do before I got there. Clare had so many options for us to use. She showed us so much to generate our own thoughts. Once I got myself together with my thoughts, Clare helped me put my own slant on things. My piece was a Parisian type of theme with some text, now I can go home and have the inspiration to do something again.
Clare is so friendly, helpful, kind, knowledgeable and wanted us to go home knowing that we could try something again at home on our own. Will definitely definitely being attending more of her workshops again. Thank you Clare for giving me the confidence I needed.
So much food for thought. I know I will be experimenting with the techniques that were taught. Clare is an excellent teacher. She is very knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to constructive ideas to make your work better. The tips on what makes a composition strong were particularly helpful to me. Very easy workshop to attend because she provides so many and so varied supplies——you can just show up.
Really enjoyed this course. Clare is an excellent teacher and is happy to share her extensive experience and flair for design. I had attended Clare's Gelli Printing course first (also excellent) so had several background sheets to use on the day. All participants did something completely different and we learnt lots of techniques and different approaches to producing a finished mixed media project. Can highly recommend this course.
This was the follow up workshop to a gelli printing session I had attended earlier in the year. I've done a fair bit of mixed media but I still learnt some new tips and techniques that I hadn't considered before. Clare is exceptionally generous with her time, energy and resources which makes all of her workshops fun and inspirational. I walked away with a picture that I am proud to hang on my wall.
This was the 2nd workshop we attended,as a follow up from the gelli printing. Clare showed us some mixed media techniques we could use, and we set about making our own pieces. Loads of inspiration was provided, and Clare guided us through the processes. We had a great time and we’re all delighted with what we produced.
