About the Course
The one day workshop is in Debra's studio in Cumbria which is a delight for the senses. It is in a large colourful shop selling felting provisions and ethnic fair trade goods.
You will learn how to create stunning pieces of textural felt art, abstract and landscapes/floral using a wonderful selection of merino wool (over 120 colours), silks of all kinds and colours, and different breeds of wool as well as other fibres.
Debra is a calm and experienced teacher who loves sharing her skills. You will leave feeling calmer but delighted with where you can go with your own creativity. Debra uses meditative music to help people find their creative focus. Debra is informative and also extremely generous with her materials and skills and will introduce you to every imaginable way of incorporating different textures and processes into your art work.
You will come away with at least two pieces of work, where you will experiment and understand how fibres go together in the process of felt making.
Every one is always amazed at the standard they achieve in such a short space of time in an atmosphere of fun and abundant creativity. Debra has taught over 2000 students many of whom are now successfully exhibiting their art.
You can be a complete beginner to art or an established artist in other mediums, all are accommodated in this class. If you have special needs please contact Debra as she has many years of experience in working with disabilities and her studio is serviced by a disabled lift and toilet facilities.

What a great class, had so much fun and learnt loads, Debra is so inspirational and very good at explaining things both in detail and with her hands on demonstrations.
The studio is lovely I loved being able to see her creations and to touch and feel all the different types of materials you can use in this wonderful craft.
I came away so inspired and wanting to try out more as soon as I could.
I created two large pieces both of which I am extremely pleased with, and one I will use in another project.
I look forward to coming back and learning even more.
Anyone hesitant about booking or travelling a distance to this workshop - just do it. You won’t regret it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this workshop. I learnt so much about wool and felting as well as how colours work. Debra was so generous in the amount of different types of materials we used. We each made 2 large pieces of work, encouraging our individual creativity and interests, rather than trying to recreate a previous work. Debra demonstrated and guided us to explore and experiment. I can't wait to attend another session.

I have now attended 2 workshops with Debra. I am an enthusiastic but inexperienced felter. The confidence and knowledge gained from Debra is wonderful. Debra is a very generous teacher.
There are so many resources to use in her workshop and the space created by all the wonderful felt art on the walls and boxes and boxes of wool, silks and ribbons is really inspirational.
Thank you Debra for another really good day yesterday. I'm thrilled with the pieces I made and look forward to joining you again soon.

I would like to say many thanks for classes! I learnt a lot from Debra. I love the way she teach and how much time she dedicate for every single student to show them what need to be done or direct them in right way. I appreciate her dedication and will to share with students a lot of fascinating knowledge! I'm delighted with my pixie shoes and lot of inspirations that now I have in my head! For sure I'll recomend this classes to others.
