Enamelling Taster Session

Enamelling 'Have a Go' Taster Session

Enamelling is the ancient process of fusing glass onto metal, using a kiln.

We will be exploring enamelling, learning how to fuse the enamel powders onto copper to create a glossy surface finish.

You do not need any experience to book a place on the workshop and will be experimenting with simple techniques to create a small picture or piece of jewellery. You will learn the basics of enamelling, in a step by step manner.

In the workshop you will learn techniques such as stencilling, sgruffito and sifting. We will cover all aspects of the enamelling process, from health and safety, preparation of the copper, and counter enamelling, to types of enamel powders, applying enamel to the front of your piece, and using decorative media such as millefiori, frit, copper wire, glass threads.

You will create a small enamelled picture or piece of jewellery that you are able to take home with you on the day.

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.

Melissa provided a welcoming and very engaging environment for us to explore enamelling. I felt very supported to experiment with the materials while still keeping everything safe and hassle free. She provided all the materials and set the room up so that we could easily follow the directions. The general atmosphere was so great and I really enjoyed chatting to everyone there.

I thoroughly enjoyed my taster session with Melissa! She provided all the materials and had samples out to demonstrate how to enamel. She took us through each stage step by step and gave us great tips along the way. Having had no previous experience of enamelling whatsoever, I came away feeling inspired and knowledgeable about the process! Would highly recommend! 😁

Melissa’s workshop was my first experience of enamelling and so I wasn’t sure what to expect. She was very organised, clear, patient and thoughtful in how she explained what I needed to do and how to get great results having plenty of examples to look at. It was a fantastic workshop and I really enjoyed myself and look forward to learning more.
