An exciting workshop exploring the beautiful technique of enamel on silver.
Workshop - £150 (minimum of 1 to a maximum of 2 people)
What we will be doing during the workshop:
During the full day course, you will be guided through the process to enable you to make your own simple design on a fine silver pendant with transparent enamels. We will explore more advanced enamelling skills, we will learn how to texture the silver, as well as wet-laying enamel techniques.
On this full day course, you will learn to:
• Cover health and safety and the kiln firing process
• Prepare the silver prior to enamelling
• Develop simple designs for the texture of the silver and understand the principles of this technique
• Explore the use of transparent enamels and how to grind, wash and prepare them ready for use
• Make a finished enamelled simple small fine silver pendant (to your own design) using texturing techniques and transparent enamels
The silver workshop lends itself very well to social distancing measures we will need to put in place. I will be able to provide face masks for those of you who would like to wear them as well as hand gel.
Thank you for your patience's during such a strange time. I look forward to sharing the joy of enamelling on silver with you all.
Tutor: Lynette Charles.
Lynette is based in Shropshire. Her work is hand crafted using a range of techniques including traditional silversmithing and enamelling. She works with both silver and copper. She has recently begun to expand her collection to include pieces with vitreous enamel on copper, applying layers of enamel, often high fired to create spectacular colours resulting from the interaction with the copper oxides. Lynette studied at the Shrewsbury College of Arts. She is a member of the Guild of Enamellers and achieved craftsman through the guilds selection process. Her work includes a range of jewelry, wall panels, and 3D pieces. A key theme of Lynette’s work is texture, and nature. She develops collections in her Shropshire based workshop, drawing upon the wonderful ever-changing countryside around her.
