Soap making in our workshop allows you to explore fragrances, colours and the effects of other ingredients without facing the scientific chemical process of soap production. This session allows you to make soap the simplest way with a choice of soap bases. You will learn the effects of different content in your soap and explore parfums and essential oils for adding fragrance, cosmetic powders and glitters, and liquids for adding colourings, dried ingredients for soft or scrub effects and oils for moisturisation.
If you choose bath bombs, it will teach you the basics in bath bomb making with a basic recipe and beginners method for making your own bath bomb and then an advanced method with more refined ingredients and equipment to give your bath bomb a professional finish. Your course host will instruct you and make a bath bomb with you to follow in a full tutorial.
For solid shampoo, you are on the way to reducing your plastic consumption! Solid shampoo means no waste, no plastic bottle packaging, no spills when travelling, and it’s ideal if you are travelling abroad as it doesn’t use any of your liquid allowance! You will learn which ingredients compliments which hair types and the functions of different ingredients.
If you choose to make a scrub, you will learn the beneficial properties of different scrub types you can make and the effects of your ingredients choices. You will take home a professional pot with your own made ingredients label.
If you choose to make moisturiser, our range of subtle fragrances for you to choose from and extra ingredients choices will leave you with an extremely nourishing moisturiser, presented in a professional pot with your own made ingredients label.
For making body butter, you will be given an in-depth lesson on butters, oils, their properties, benefits and functions. You will make an extremely naturally nourishing product, presented in a professional pot with your own made ingredients label.
Lastly, if you choose to make lip balm, you will learn the complexity of lip balm ingredients and how to achieve certain appearances and functions once your lip balm is applied. You will take home a professional lip balm stick. We are the first teaching workshop of this nature in the UK to offer fully compostable cosmetic containers and wrapping to customers.
As well as the Abbeydale Rd, Workshop you can also choose to attend our Sheffield City Centre workshop on Arundel Street a stones throw from the train station or the Craft Cafe in Brinsworth, Rotherham.
Our main workshop is based on Abbeydale Rd, Sheffield at The Soap Loaf Company, run by Natasha Green, who began retailing soap 8 years ago which lead on to soap making a year later. The workshop was launched during the summer of 2016 after years of building up expertise and knowledge in the craft. The Soap Loaf Company have now released Cosmeti-Craft®️ in the spring of 2018 to better describe the range of beauty products you can now make in the workshop.
