About the Course
This workshop is aimed at those with some experience of working with clay and who would like to learn about decorating with slips (liquid coloured clay).
The first day will be spent making forms to decorate. Those who can throw will be able to work on the wheel. Molds and soft slabs can also be used to create a bowl or a set of tiles. The second day will be spent decorating with slips. Bridget will demonstrate her own slip-decorating techniques and assist students to experiment with them.
Techniques will include brushwork, slip-trailing, paper-resist, sgraffito, as well as marbelling and feathering.
The weekend will offer a combination of frequent demonstrations, practical tips and personal tuition as well as examples of the tutor's own work. A selected number of pieces will be fired and glazed for collection in a few weeks.
Tutor: Bridget Williams
