Using the same simple knife and skills as for spoon carving, a tree spirit or Vaettir (old Norse) can be carved from a green branch or log. I have evolved a process using simple knife cuts by which this can be achieved. There is plenty of scope for creativity; so bring your own ideas and imagination with you.
Everyone completes at least one tree spirit during the day, and some go on to make a second one.
This one day course is ideal for experienced spoon carvers who are looking to expand their range of carving projects; but can also cater for beginners willing to take a lot of care in learning to use sharp knives.
Camping is available on site, please enquire.
Enjoy this creative craft, coached by an experienced artisan tutor, and take the fruits of your labour home with you at the end of the day!
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
