About the Course

This one day throwing workshop takes place at an art centre in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.

The pottery workshop can accommodate 5 students at a time.
Clay and tools are provided and the fee includes the bisque firing of one finished thrown pot. If you want to fire more pots then this can be arranged at a small cost.

It is recommended that you bring your own apron or clothes that you don't mind getting clay on and your own small towel.
Please wear a mask or a visor during the tuition.
I will be wearing a visor and we will all be socially distancing throughout the day.

This course is designed for beginners wishing to learn the basics of throwing a cylinder - the basis of most thrown pots. More experienced throwers can be shown more advanced techniques.

The workshop will run subject to two people being booked for each day.

To book please press 'see available dates' or if you have any questions regarding the workshops you can contact me through the 'Ask a Question' button.

If you find that you need to rearrange the course for a later date I will need at least two weeks notice.

If you will be redeeming a CraftCourses gift voucher on this course, the voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

What's included in the price?

Tools and clay are included.
The cost to fire one thrown pot is included.
Other pots can be fired at a small cost.

This course was just brilliant. I’d been thinking about throwing for ages - years - and when finally got round to it, it didn’t disappoint and now just want to do some more. Really visceral and cathartic. If you have any yearning to tap the wheely creative bit of your brain I’d heartily recommend you do this course with Charlie. He is the don!

Response from Charlie's Pots:

Thank you very much for your review Hugh.
Much appreciated and it was a pleasure to meet you.
Glad you enjoyed it and hope you can make it back to the art centre sometime soon to do some more.
Did you want to glaze your own pots (have you already done it?)
Regards
Charlie

Fantastic workshop. Charlie was very knowledgeable, a great tutor and very patient. We had lots of opportunity to throw pots and I was amazed how much I'd learnt by the end of the day. Looking forward to returning to glaze my pots.
Covid social distancing measures in place so felt very safe.
Highly recommend this as a treat for yourself or a gift for someone.

Response from Charlie's Pots:

Hello Lynne
Many thanks for your kind review.
I am glad you enjoyed the day and it was a pleasure to meet you.
Look forward to seeing you in a few weeks to do the glazing.
Best wishes
Charlie

Attended with my husband as his birthday present. Charlie is welcoming and attentive throughout the day. All equipment provided and prepared on our arrival. Charlie gives clear and thorough instructions and continues to help during the day for individual instructions. Made cylinders and bowls. Guidance given for onward firing and glazing. COVID rules followed so all good there. The day flew by. Would highly recommend- and to top it all there was tea and choccy biscuits!

Response from Charlie's Pots:

Hello Louise & Tim
Many thanks for your lovely review.
I am glad you enjoyed it and it was lovely to meet you both.
I will be in touch once all your pots have been fired.
Many thanks
Charlie
