Description
On this course you will work with copper pieces which you will decorate with different forms of enamel. For each application of enamel you will fire your piece in a hot kiln (over 800C) to melt the enamel onto the copper. You will build up your design one layer at a time, heating each layer as you go. Whether you are a complete beginner or have some previous experience with enamelling this course will give you new skills and ideas. With a small group size, individual students can work on different techniques at their own pace. New techniques will be explained to the group or individually depending on the needs of students and you will come away with a range of your own unique pieces of work. You will work with a range of techniques to decorate your pieces of copper and can make up to 8 pieces of work, selecting from a range of copper in different shapes and sizes. The selection of copper sizes vary from smaller jewellery pieces up to 75mm by 75mm panels which are great for more creative artwork. Among some of the things you will work with are: - Working with different forms of enamel - powders, threads, millefiori and more - Use stencils to create lovely designs with enamel powder. - Work with gold and silver leaf - Work with metal wire to create patterns within the enamel - Draw designs with pencil on your fired enamel - Hot enamel scrolling The final technique of the day will be experienced by all students as this is a fun and exciting finish to a great day of learning and creativity. This final technique will be to prepare a piece and then scroll through your enamelled design fired at higher temperature than worked with earlier in the day.

Lunch is included and will be a selection of bread, cheese, pate, hummus, salad, crisps, fruit and more. Unlimited tea and coffee is available all day including decaf. Price is fully inclusive of materials for up to 8 pieces of work. All tools and kilns will be provided. All work made can be taken away at the end of the day.
