A Day of Creative Workshops at the Garden Rooms at Tennants, Leyburn.
This event has seven workshops to choose from:
'Scrunchy Landscapes' with Kathryn Guy:
Have a fun and creative day making beautiful textured pictures using up-cycled textiles, a simple dying technique and embellishing with simple hand stitch.
'Ceramic Clogs' with Heather Griffiths:
During the workshop Heather will show you how to press mould a pair of her small ceramic clogs. She will then lead you through the processes of finishing and surface decoration. Once your own pair of clogs is complete they will be taken by Heather to be fired & glazed and will be returned to Tennants about a month later for you to collect.
'Floral Collage' with Sharron Bates:
Join talented artist Sharron Bates and learn how to create your own beautiful floral picture using vintage papers and oxides.
'Rag Rugs' with Karina Wiles:
This fun and relaxing workshop is great for those who are new to rag rugging but non beginners are most welcome. Participants will learn how to create a small flower posy using both the proddy and hooky methods for rag rug making. All equipment will be provided along with a range of coloured and textured fabrics to choose from to create your own individual flowers.
'Shibori & Natural Dying Techniques' with Pippin Textiles:
An introduction to using natural dyes and Shibori – the Japanese technique of resist dyeing. Learn the importance of preparing your materials and how to dye in a variety of ways. We will practice traditional methods of Shibori resist dyeing such as folding, clamping, scrunching, and stitching to create patterns on fabric.
'Silver & Recycled Copper Jewellery' with Bean Creative:
A fun and creative session using sterling silver and recycled copper to create some stunning pieces of jewellery.
'Mouse Making' with Mouse in The House:
There’s mouse mischief afoot! Create your own mixed-media mouse sculpture on a little wooden block, personalised to tell your own story with an array of details and props, created using model-making skills combined with stitching and textile techniques. All materials are provided, though participants may wish to bring their own fabrics and other mouse-related treasures to add a very personal touch to their work!
Spaces on each workshop are limited to ten people and booking is essential.
The price is per workshop and includes all materials, refreshments and lunch.
These workshops would make a fantastic activity for'Mothers Day' which is the following Sunday.

What's included in the price?
