Fanny Arnesen reviewed: Log to Stool with Gedwood

"Wonderful course and a very friendly atmosphere! Ged is super knowledgeable and has a vast assortment of different tools and equipment, some which are handmade. Before we got started he gave us a demonstration, which me as a complete beginner found very helpful! Cant recommend enough, I love my little stool!"

Gedwood responded:

" Thanks so much Fanny. Hope your stool inspires you on for some tree paintings!"

Eric reviewed: Blacksmithing Introduction courses in Yorkshire and the North East

"This was a well thought through beginners course in blacksmithing skills with cleverly chosen projects to introduce the art and satisfy a diverse audience. The team provide an inclusive, hospitable and very welcoming environment. Their skills as hosts, trainers and blacksmiths are first class and seem effortless, but I suspect this has all been very carefully thought through. It was a great day and very good value. Whether you are planning on developing a new skill to support future projects of your own, or you want a fun day out hitting red hot hot steel, I can whole heartedly recommend this course."

Judith Roe reviewed: The First Cut - lino cutting for beginners & rusty printmakers in Derbyshire

"My friend and I had a marvellous day making linocuts with Liz. As more or less novices the day was pitched perfectly to help us make our first Lino prints. Everything we needed was provided and the studio is ideal with lots of space. Liz was very encouraging and gave interesting hints and tips on how we could develop our ideas. We were amazed that we came home with so many different prints. The day flew by. We’re already looking to get equipped to do more at home and hope to be back for another course sometime."

Liz Wellby - Artist, Teacher & Maker responded:

"Hi Judith & Julie, Lovely to hear from you and thank you for letting me know about your workshop experience. It was a pleasure working with you both, seeing your ideas, skills and understanding develop. It’s time to order some materials and equipment and plan your second composition. Bert and I look forward to seeing you again at The Slipper Studio. Best wishes Liz Wellby"

Deanna - The Wild Pharma reviewed: Crafty Basketry's Willow Basket Making for Beginners/Improvers - Day Course at Cowshed Workshop, Tenterden, Kent

"I absolutely loved our day making baskets! Marianne is a lovely lady and a great teacher. It was a joy to see the basket take shape over the day and to go home with a functioning and beautiful basket was the icing on the cake. I was out the next day harvesting Elder Flowers with it! Thanks for a truly relaxing and inspiring day Marianne, love Dee x."

Crafty Basketry responded:

"Thanks so much for your review, Dee. Great to hear that you had a use for it the next day and that you loved making it so much. Those techniques you can use making all kinds of items, so once you've found a willow patch to harvest from, then have fun experimenting! Hope to see you again soon. With best wishes, Marianne Crafty Basketry"

Sarah Howes reviewed: Japanese Iris Embroidery Panel - UK postage only

"I have recently purchased six of these lovely embroidery panels (all different, not the same one!). It is really nice to be able to choose your own colour palette, rather than being provided with all the colours and it also enables you to use up your stash of embroidery threads. The panels are beautifully produced on lovely material and the little additional extras, like the needle book and threader are an added bonus. They are also packaged nicely and delivered quickly. Would definitely recommend."

Jonathan Roger reviewed: Lino printing landscapes

"The hushed atmosphere of Lee's professional lino printing studio. Ambitious I thought for one day, how to have four colours in your reduction lino print. Fully absorbed, relaxed and made doable by Lee."

Damian reviewed: Blacksmithing Introduction courses in Yorkshire and the North East

"It was hard but rewarding work. I was slow at first but not quite so slow later. Adrian made it look easy. Andy helped with technique. I think I improved at beating blunt ends into points as the day went on. The warning about hot metal was very useful. It remains too hot to touch for quite a long time after it has ceased to glow."

Kez reviewed: Weekend sewing course

"I went on this course hoping to learn the basics of how to use the sewing machine I had inherited. I definitely managed that, and more, in the afternoon with Eszter. I've come away with 2 natty projects completed (I never imagined I'd put a zip into anything in one afternoon!) and much more confidence to try some projects under my own steam now."

Julian reviewed: Beginners Epoxy Resin Workshop

"Arrived knowing nothing about Epoxy Resin. Richard shared information with the group in a very patient and friendly way, and we all learnt so much. Starting with setting and creating a sealed frame, and inserting live edged timber, to mixing the epoxy resin to the correct formula, adding colour and pouring it into the frame to create the miniature (very miniature) live edged table. A fab way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Highly recommended."

Liz Bell reviewed: Woodturning for beginners

"Fantastic course. I hadn’t done any woodturning before and splitting the 2 day course meant that I could start learning and then try out my own lathe with his guidance and go back with all my questions. He’s given me the confidence to do this at home. I’m definitely going again next year to expand on my skills and my husband wants to go too. See you again soon Stuart. Regards Liz"

The Scottish Woodturner responded:

"Thanks Liz. Glad you enjoyed it. Look forward to seeing you both back again. Stuart."
