"This was truly the best workshop I have ever attended. The venue and workshop are fascinating and Claire's teaching style is welcoming and thorough. I would thoroughly recommend her. Claire's knowledge is outstanding and she led us through the workshop in a methodical and careful manner enabling all to achieve. Lunch in a beautiful garden and refreshments supplied. What was not to like. I will be attending again and I am in the process of setting up my own lino area at home in response. Thank you Claire. "

Wendy Turner reviewed: Introduction to Epoxy Resin Block Casting

"A thoroughly interesting and enjoyable course, with an extremely knowledgeable tutor. We were able to choose from a wide range of items to go into our block, and colours or effects to add to the resin. Dave was great, helping us to make the best of our ideas and advising us on the best place to eat after the workshop. We thoroughly enjoyed our morning and can't wait to get our blocks in the post."

Hand forged Yorkshire responded:

"Many thanks indeed for your very kind review Wendy, I really appreciate it and I'm so pleased you both enjoyed the course. It was fantastic having you both in the workshop and I am very impressed with how your blocks turned out, two different designs both equally beautiful. "

Bob H reviewed: Furniture making course: Fundamentals of Furniture Making Part 1 (beginner)

"A thoroughly enjoyable two days under Aidan's tutelage. Calm location away from hustle and bustle and a friendly welcoming classroom. The small class size allows for immediate guidance when required but Aidan balances that by giving you space to get on with practising what you've just learnt. I would recommend the experience, even to someone who wasn't planning to pursue it as a longer term hobby. It's all a lot more 'zen' than I was expecting - losing the notion of time passing whilst working on the piece and a great break from a hectic digital life. "

Farnham School of Furniture Making Ltd responded:

"Thank you for your kind words Bob! It's good to hear you enjoyed the course and being in the 'Workshop bubble'. I do feel like this when teaching as well, time seems to pass differently when working at the bench. If you have any other questions following the course, feel free to get in contact. All the best, Aidan "

Mary Clegg reviewed: Fused Glass Half Day

"My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our session with Julie. She explained and guided us through the process so clearly, letting us get on as we wanted and offering advice if we needed. She made us feel very welcome and we soon relaxed into what we were doing. Neither of us are from craft/arty backgrounds and are very happy to have made something personal. Thank you Julie."

Karen Westwood reviewed: Create a pebble mosaic garden feature with award winning artist David James in Ilkley

"I really enjoyed this opportunity to learn the process involved in making a pebble mosaic. It was a fun day with lots of encouragement and help from mosaic experts David and Caroline. The course is expensive but I received it as a special present and it has been an unforgettable day. It also gave me the skills to try the process for myself at home. Thank you David and Caroline. "

Iurie reviewed: Furniture making course: Fundamentals of Furniture Making Part 1 (beginner)

"When I made my first step into workshop I thought I know a lot about woodworking, when I made my step out I realised that I actually don’t know anything. These courses are pure gold, I enjoyed every minute of them and learned a lot of useful tips. Just can’t wait to finish my started project. Class wait for me, I’m coming!!! ?? "

Farnham School of Furniture Making Ltd responded:

"Hi Lurie, it's great to hear your feedback, thank you! I am very happy you enjoyed the course and I look forward to welcoming you back to the Workshop. Best wishes, Aidan "

Emily Stammers reviewed: One day Traditional Lead Stained Glass Course

"My parents bought me a lead workshop with Cheryl for my birthday and today I finally got round to going. The workshop was fantastic in every way. Cheryl is a beacon of light and wacky in the best way possible, her work is fantastic. Her classes are small so she has enough time to help everyone 1 on 1 and has many ways to make things easier or more complex depending on your needs. She has a brilliant set up ( not to mention a beautiful house ! ) and had a wonderful variety of refreshments available to everyone. Time flew by I was having so much fun and I am so pleased with the piece I have made. As someone who’s work life is very stressful, taking a day out to enjoy a craft, led by such a passionate tutor, was exactly what I needed !. Could not recommend more !"

"What a wonderful day! Claire was so friendly, welcoming and above all so knowledgeable. Her teaching style was calm, reassuring and motivating. Philippa reviewed: Lino Printing Day with Oxford Linocut Workshops

"A really memorable course. Claire is very patient, calm and knowledgable. She took us through the various lino cutting techniques and helped as we all started our own designs. The end results were all fabulously individual and used so many of the techniques Claire had taught us. All taking place in a wonderfully rural studio setting with chickens running about outside! I will be back again, for sure."

Barry Blackwell reviewed: Firebird Forge Blacksmithing School

"We wanted a day where our son could do something practical with their hands and have the thrill of producing an item themselves. If you are in the same position- this is a great course! Great father and son day out in my case (mother/ daughter would work equally well - as would any combination between). Mort is a fantastic tutor and has right balance of letting folk develop and make errors and stepping in to help (retrieve). This is good, as it forces you to try, rather than having it done for you and therefore you can claim that the end product was substantially yours. What’s more you have his full attention- he doesn’t do his own work or answer his phone etc - you are his sole focus for the whole day (a mark of professionalism). Very friendly, you can ask any questions, and he will expand so you have understanding of the technique and history. I absolutely recommend the day. Leaving aside the learning experience- it’s just a great day out and experience - with an expert - which is completely different from the ‘day job’ and you can loose yourself in it. PS lovely setting- thanks Mort."

Trudy reviewed: Spoon carving taster session

"I really enjoyed this course. Three hours really well spent. To produce a carved spoon from a bit of wood using an axe and whittling knives was brilliant. Dave is a great teacher who clearly knows and enjoys his craft. I liked the step by step approach of him demonstrating what to do at each stage and then letting me try. He would also show me a different technique if I found something difficult. Great experience and I would thoroughly recommend it. Thanks Dave"

Amber reviewed: Furniture making course: Fundamentals of Furniture Making Part 1 (beginner)

"I attended the fundamental part 1 with no previous experience in furniture making or any wood work for that matter. Just interested in learning something new! I thoroughly enjoyed the 2 day course. Aidan is an excellent teacher, he’s extremely knowledgeable and passionate about furniture making. The course was hands on from the get on, and Aidan was supportive throughout. I went home with new skills and the confidence to be able to create something myself! Would Highly recommend this course to anyone interested in furniture making!"

Farnham School of Furniture Making Ltd responded:

"Hi Amber, Thank you very much for your kind feedback! I am very glad you enjoyed the course and took a new skill home with you. If you have any follow-up questions, just get in contact. All the best! Aidan "

Robert & Rachel Powell reviewed: Make a silver ring or bangle

"Not our first visit to Lucy's workshop and as previous reviewers have mentioned it probably won't be the last. This time my wife and I made our wedding rings and Lucy did an excellent job of providing us with information relating to design and consulting with us on our designs prior to the course to ensure we had the correct materials and that we would have enough time on the course to complete them. Lucy makes you feel welcome and at home in her workshop and gardens and we had a great time learning the techniques and putting them into practice under Lucy's close supervision. We couldn't recommend her highly enough, particularly if you enjoy learning and making things or want to become a jeweller yourself. "

Exclusive Jewellery responded:

"Hi Robert and Rachel Thank you for your lovely review. I'm so glad we got such good results for you both, and hope to see you again one day. Lucy "
