Lillie reviewed: Silversmithing workshop

"Amazing amazing amazing! Kami is an excellent teacher who showed me how to create a horse shoe pendant, Kami explained it all amazingly and showed me silver smithing doesn’t have to be this expensive thing and how to use things already around you. Feeling so pleased afterwards and went home with a belly full of tea, biscuits and a beautiful pendant- will absolutely be booking again."

Mya Designs responded:

"Aww thanks so much, Lillie. I really enjoyed helping you to explore silversmithing, making it more accessible to you with just a few basic tools and thinking outside the box. I adore your lovely little silver horse shoe pendant, just the perfect size! So glad you enjoyed the experience and hope you continue trying lots of other different crafts in the future. :) "

Bev reviewed: Beginners/improvers glass fusing workshops in Hemingford Grey, Cambridgeshire

"My OH and I attended Carole's glass fusing workshop for the first time and had an enjoyable day. Carole was a welcoming hostess, we were given time to look for ideas & inspiration in folders of previous class' work, though with hindsight it could be worth doing a bit of research for design ideas before you arrive! Carole was informative and helpful throughout the day, providing advice and guidance when needed. It was interesting to see our finished products, note the changes and consider what we'd do different next time. "

Kristin reviewed: 2 day knife making course

"Amazing time with Gary and Joss making an axe and knife for my partner's birthday celebration in April. Gary and Joss were extremely patient and knowledgeable during the whole process. The work was tough on the hands but well worth it, we came away with a great axe and knife. Highly recommend for anyone who loves blacksmithing or wants to learn."

Kate Abernethy reviewed: Premium experience package dry stone walling for beginners

"This course was very engaging, the group was great fun and the instructors kept an excellent balance between showing us skills and letting us learn them ourselves, hands on. The setting in Diggle was ideal and we were all proud to leave ‘our’ wall on the farm. Excellent catering by Sharon, who took great care of us all. Highly recommend it. "

Nic Long reviewed: Raku, Saggar, Barrel, Copper Matte & Horsehair Firing Weekend Workshops 2025

"The two ladies were were very pleasant but there were too many people on the course and the time management was poor, first raku firing could have started before the saggar and barrel firings were opened and then second raku firing could have taken place over lunch. There was a lot of time spent waiting around that could have been used polishing pots had the wax been available. No chance to horse hair or feather fire pots."

Alison and Abi Firing Workshops responded:

"We are sorry you were disappointed in our time management. As you can see from previous reviews, we have never had anything less than 5 stars as everyone who has attended realises that raku firing involves waiting around and not leaving kilns unattended. We do not supply wax as it is extremely expensive and would add to the cost of the workshop but we’re very willing to share knowledge of what we have found after years of research to be the best products. We offer all materials, tools, glazes, washes, expertise, experience, knowledge, lovely location and homemade food, and we are disappointed and saddened this wasn’t enough for you. We do not offer horsehair firing unless time permits, it did not this weekend. It is a raku, saggar and barrel firing workshop and you will see that no other workshops offer such a variety of firing methods. Copper wash and naked raku are specific techniques that require waiting for reduction to take place and kilns to reach specific temperatures. We do hope you are satisfied with the lovely pots you took home and how much you learnt with all the different techniques. "

Mark Barnes reviewed: Stone carving Magical Creatures weekend at the Granary

"I had a fabulous weekend I arrived with an idea which I thought was ambitious and was encouraged to have a go. Kezia gave loads of useful input when needed but allowed us to explore. We all ended with fabulous prices to take home and all left wanting to do more. Best weekend in a long time. "

Vicci and Keith Day reviewed: Hare Sculpture workshop with Jo Garden Art in beautiful Norfolk/Suffolk

"Well I’ve just read through all the reviews Jo and can only say ‘yes, all of the above!’, Keith and I enjoyed every moment of a lovely day. Honestly weren’t sure what to expect but your hospitality, teaching and encouragement was such fun and we love our hares, they were destined for the garden but atm they look great on our staircase where I think they might stay!"

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you so much Vicci! It was a pleasure having you and Keith in the studio - I loved your hares finished in the dark copper which will have a blue patina. If they go out in the garden (eventually!), the patina will come and go with the weather! Jo x"

"A remarkable experience. You have the opportunity, not only to learn how to build a dry stone wall safely and to a high standard, but also to make an important contribution to our heritage. The wall that you build is a legacy. Added to which, the experience is invigorating and great fun! Sharing this experience with a group of folk from all walks of life only adds further to the enjoyment. Well done, Carl and team!"

"Roger is a superb teacher and goes the extra mile at every stage to ensure you get the best out of your day. Excellent introduction to bending metal, arc welding, MIG and TIG. Dan Cousins reviewed: Axe making course

"The axe making course is fantastic. Andy is incredibly knowledgeable and really talks you through each step. You get to forge using the hammer and press and then go though grinding, heat treat and sharpening. At the end you get a really nice axe that you made. Be warned though, blacksmithing is highly satisfying and addictive so me and my friend will definitely be booking the knife making course later in the year. Thanks Andy, this was the best thing I've done in ages."
