Nic J reviewed: Gel plate printing starter kit with handmade A5 gel plate, instructions and videos

"Really pleased with the kit, which was dispatched quickly and really well packaged. As an artist, I've been wanting to try gel printing for ages, but didn't want to have to buy everything separately. This kit was perfect and love that it is environmentally friendly and safe for children too. The video tutorials were a fantastic addition too. I would thoroughly recommend and very pleased that I found this kit. Would buy again."

Bev Evans Art and Print responded:

"Nicola, thank you so much for this lovely review. I’m really pleased that the eco factor of the kit appealed to you as it is something I am trying to build on as my kits increase (there is a new kit on the way!). It is also helpful to know that the videos worked well for you too. I hope you enjoy many gel plate printing hours 😊. Best wishes, Bev "

"I had a fabulous two days as a complete beginner. Tina and Stephen are very welcoming and I immediately felt at ease in the group. I enjoyed it all -learning the basic stitches, how to wind a bobbin, spangling, and especially producing a small piece of work. Tina is a very patient teacher and I was really proud of the bookmark I made under her supervision. "

Karen Johnson reviewed: Machine knitting bite-size, one to one tuition with Claire Newberry-ask me anything!

"I contacted Claire because I was struggling to understand how to increase and decrease neatly when knitting rib on my Brother machine and ribber. The manuals, books I owned and YouTube videos just didn’t cover this topic when doing something like a 3x3 rib and I wanted to do more with the ribber than just knitting welts. I wanted to knit a whole garment in rib. Claire was brilliant. We spent an hour (and a bit longer) working on a neat professional way of doing fashioned decreases that I could apply to 3x3, 4x4 or other combinations. I came away feeling confident. I understood what I was doing and spent the afternoon practicing. So, if you’re struggling with something, don’t get frustrated, invest in yourself and get some training. I highly recommend Claire, she’s knowledgeable, experienced and very patient. Our time overran but Claire kindly continued because she wanted to ensure I understood and was happy that she had answered my questions. Great value for money and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her. I know where to go in the future as I learn more about machine knitting and try new things."

Claire Newberry's Knitting School responded:

"Thank you so much for your very kind words. It was a pleasure to teach you this morning. Best wishes, and I look forward to see your rib sweater. Claire."

Edna reviewed: Make a silver ring or bangle

"I have been coming to Lucy for some time now and we managed to finish the drop earrings that I started some time ago. The lesson does not just involve learning techniques, it involves planning the design and even completing that process we had to fine tune it to what worked aesthetically. This is what makes coming to Lucy worth while for me. "

Exclusive Jewellery responded:

"Thank you Edna. You persevered with determination to complete your amazing earrings, despite the interruption caused by Covid. Well done!"

Jan Erskine-Power reviewed: Ceramic moon gazing hares

"Friendly, helpful and down-to-earth instruction. Being unartistic and a newcomer to clay modelling, I was worried that my attempt would look nothing like the lovely figures Linda produces but was so pleased with the end result. Everyone produced a hare - each with their own personality. The quirky and imperfect were embraced which meant it was relaxing and fun. A lovely bit of mindfulness and can’t wait to see what survives the kiln gods in a couple of weeks. Everyone should have a go - you’ll be surprised by what you can achieve, and the world needs more hares!"

Green Man Ceramics responded:

"Thanks for the lovely review, they are all home safe and drying out awaiting their first firing...."

Ann Bridges reviewed: Crafty Basketry's Willow Basket Making for Beginners - Day Course at Penhurst Retreat Centre, East Sussex

"Being disabled I did wonder how I would cope with weaving a basket but yes, I managed with the guidance and help of Marianne to end up with a rather nice basket. She did suggest that perhaps in the future using a softer medium might be easier for me and I look forward to the challenge. Thank you Marianne for all your patience, you are an excellent teacher, "

Crafty Basketry responded:

"Thank you so much for your lovely review and compliments, Ann! So good to hear that the course exceeded expectations. Your strength of character and shear determination got you through You were such a delight to have as a student! I look forward to teaching you again, then with either rush or rattan, which requires hardly any strength in the fingers. Thanks again very much. With best wishes, Marianne - Crafty Basketry"
