Make a set of stacking rings silversmithing workshop

About the Course

There is the option to make either two slim stacking rings with a semi-precious stone or a wider ring with added texture. All the rings are made of sterling silver using traditional silversmithing techniques.

You also have the option to make additional rings in the workshop for keen participants. You can arrange this online while booking, or on the day with card or cash payment. An additional textured stacking ring is £10, a stacking ring with a semi-precious gemstone is £15 & a wide textured ring is £20.

During the class you will practice a range of traditional silversmithing techniques.

You will start off by sizing the ring, measuring the silver needed, filing, shaping the silver, using a blowtorch to solder it, adding unique textures with our collection of hammers, polishing the ring to your desired shine and finally setting the stone (the traditional way - without glue!).

There will be members of the Noctua team at hand throughout this process to support, advise and teach you the skills needed while allowing you to make the ring independently. Those making stacking rings can also choose from a wide range of semi-precious gemstones on the day.

This is a very interactive workshop but suitable for complete beginners, or people with prior experience of jewellery making. Everyone is welcome!

If you need glasses for reading then we recommend you bring them on the day, along with wearing old clothes. You will need to wear closed-toe shoes and tie up long hair. We do not have a strict age limit but please enquire before booking a class for anyone under the age of 16 just to confirm it will be suitable. All under 16’s in the workshop will need to be with a participating adult.

If you will be redeeming a CraftCourses gift voucher on this course, the voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

What's included in the price?

My daughter wanted to do a jewellery making course with her friends for her 14th birthday, and after looking around we chose this one. We had an excellent time, each making 2 stacking rings. Andrew was a great tutor and took us through the process step by step. There were plenty of tools to go around and he guided us calmly through the process. We all ended up with beautiful, professional looking rings.

I just attended this class today and loved it. Andrew was friendly, well informed, experienced and a good tutor. We learnt, step by step, how to work a strip of silver into a gorgeous ring. Andrew took his time to work with us all and calmly over saw everything we did. We were able to use a variety of different tools and no question was too obvious to ask. I am now looking to book another course as soon as I finish this review! I would thoroughly recommend.

I thought the course was well organised, friendly and informal. There were plenty of tools and materials to go round. Brittany explained everything very clearly, and was able to give everyone all the help they needed, as a group and individually. I picked up lots of bits of useful information, and found that there are other people apart from me that love fiddling with bits of metal!
I have been looking around for a long time for local silversmithing classes, so was very pleased to have found one at last.

I was so happy I found this course after struggling to find something suitable for so long! Brittany is a lovely teacher and was on hand to guide us all both as a group and individually, making sure we were all comfortable with each step. The tools supplied are great and we learned little tricks of the trade throughout our time there. We all came away with two beautiful stacking rings and definitely enough knowledge to repeat the process but also experiment! Brittany has since helped me get all the tools and equipment I need to do this, and regularly answers any questions I might have! Such value for money, a really great experience. Thanks Brittany!

I absolutely loved this course! I had been looking for a local silversmith class so was made up when I found this one. We made 2 silver stacking rings and I was so pleased with how they turned out, brittany was a fab teacher taking time to help everyone one on one aswell as the group as a whole. Everything was clearly explained so we knew how to use the tools correctly and the processes used for each step of the ring making. She has also been a great help to me since the course helping me get all my tools and accessories to carry on. I highly recommend this class!
