JJ VIncent - Ceramic Animal Sculptor reviewed: One person - Full day 6 hours sculpture/soldering brazing wire forming course, specialising in insects, fairies

"Many thanks, Roger for a very rewarding and inspirational day! The day was entirely designed to fit my particular set of circumstances and requirements. As a long-time ceramic sculptor, I am currently in the process of widening my techniques and materials to include wood, resins and metals. Rather than concentrating a single technique, Roger was able to give me an overview of a wide range of metal-joining techniques, ranging from Arc welding, Mig welding to brazing and soft-soldering. Whilst I was working my way through the introductory exercises, Roger worked his way through testing and reviewing all of my existing tools and equipment and was able to assess those items that were "keepers" and had some worth, and those items that were not safe, or reliable for future use. This, coupled with seeing his brilliant original artworks at close quarters, made the day very inspirational and contributed enormously to getting my metal-joining journey well under way. Looking forward to further, in-depth tuition at a later date."

"What a super review, Celia! Thank you very much! May I just say that you were the perfect student? You picked up the new techniques so easily that it didn't take much effort on my part to teach you. "Amazing session. Paula had set everything up ready for when we arrived. Paula was attentive and she simplified instructions so it was easy to follow as it was our first time doing glass fusing. My teenage daughter had great fun creating her own pieces. There are plenty of materials available to create your own unique piece. We would definitely do this again. "

Lynn reviewed: Traditional upholstery assessment before starting a course.

"As a complete novice, it was useful to have this initial chat with Peter. I took my project for him to look at and he gave me good advice on how I might proceed until my first class. We discussed some tools and methods (dos and don'ts). I now feel more confident about learning this skill as a hobby."

Alice and Amanda reviewed: Beginners Stained Glass Day With Panoramic Sea Views

"We had simply the best time with Aveen. From the minute she greeted us at the front door, she was welcoming, friendly and encouraging. We received excellent, professional tuition and guidance from Aveen (including her keen attention to health and safety), which meant that we produced two beautiful stained glass pieces. My mum has not stopped talking about how proud she is that she made her own feather. The range of glass colours, patterns and textures was exquisite, and we had free rein to choose whatever we liked, which was fantastic, and Aveen was there to provide expertise if needed. Thank you so much for a brilliant day, we will remember it for years."

Eline reviewed: Two day dry stone walling course for beginners in association with Dry Stone Walling Association of Great Britain

"I thoroughly enjoyed this course. The Lancashire group is very friendly and so knowledgeable. They are clearly passionate in teaching their craft and do so in a non-judgmental way. The day was well structured with a short theory on dry stone walling and a couple of hours practice either side of a lunch break. We managed to rebuild a decent section of wall in two short days so felt a good sense of achievement, and it's for a good cause. We also had a good laugh! I was hooked from the start and joined the association for more practice."

Dry Stone Walling Association Lancashire Branch responded:

"Eline. So glad you enjoyed yourself, we aim to please. The wall you built is part of a 10 year programme, rebuilding the walls on Crompton Moor. Hope to see you soon at one of our practice meetings, in Saddleworth or Cumbria. All the best, Paul, Chairman of DSWA"
