Mark Alder reviewed: Lucy Churchill's Stone Carving Workshops

"I attended Lucy's course after having to cancel a course elsewhere when Lockdown hit and I'm so glad I did as Lucy's hands on teaching style, easy going personality and outstanding talents made for an absolutely joyful experience. With only two students we pretty much had one-to-one tuition throughout the three days. We were lucky enough to work outdoors in the sunshine enjoying tea/lunch breaks in the garden with Lucy where we were able to learn more about each others backgrounds and generally have a good laugh as we bonded over tea, cake and stone! I would recommend Lucy's course to anyone who is looking to take that first or even second step in stone carving, she will guide you gently through all of the skills required to produce your first masterpiece in stone or hone your existing skills! All done with a smile, a cuppa and gentle prod in the right direction when needed. Big thank you to Lucy and my fellow student Mike for making the whole experience as hilarious as it was rewarding. Tools have been ordered and the work will continue - money and time very well spent. "

Harry and Sasha reviewed: Alien spoon carving

"We had a great day learning how to carve spoons with Alan. He took us through the techniques and safe use of tools. He was so knowledgeable and opened our eyes to a whole world and set of skills we hadn’t known about before but he also made it really accessible and gave you confidence when you needed it. His wife Sim made home-made scones and jam, delicious soup and more home-baking in the afternoon. We felt very well looked after. I would recommend this workshop to anyone who would like to learn how to work with wood safely and to be able to produce an impressive end product."

Kenneth McLuckie reviewed: Log to Stool with Gedwood

"Having received this experience as a birthday gift, I was unsure what to expect. I was very pleasantly surprised to discover the activity took place outside in a rustic workshop using only hand tools in a friendly environment. A description and use of the tools was demonstrated by Ged before being let loose on our logs. He then supervised our attempts offering advice and encouragement where necessary. Overall a very pleasant day was experienced with a wooden stool to take away as a memory. I really enjoyed the whole experience and would recommend it to others. "

Gedwood responded:

"Many thanks Kenneth. Glad you enjoyed the workshop.👍"

Jane reviewed: Kindling/blanket basket (2 day) workshop with Hopewood Baskets

"Who would have thought someone who's never done anything like this before could come away with not only a completed basket but one which was for purpose in just a weekend? Not me, that's for sure, but thanks to Sarah and Marcus I completed the course and thanks to their tuition, guidance, extensive knowledge and immense patience I did just that. How chuffed am I? Immensely. Would I recommend? Yes, wholeheartedly. Thank you both for a mentally exhausting weekend and such a wonderful result! "

Hopewood Baskets responded:

"Hi Jane. What an amazing review! That really means so much to us to hear, as we really do want everyone to love the experience of weaving as much as we do....even if it does exhaust the cognitive powers after two full days! Great effort coming in with a log basket as your very first basket, what an achievement! Absolute pleasure meeting you, and hopefully see you again in the future. Best wishes, Sarah and Marcus "

Thank you to Debbie, a wonderful welcome, food and delicious flap jack, so good to be with you again. Would highly recommend if you want to achieve so much in a wonderful creative environment. "

Kathleen Loftus reviewed: Rag rug making course in North Herefordshire

"Jenni was a brilliant teacher. The course was well organised and prepared. It really helped having a piece of hessian marked, it made it easier for me start and quickly develop a scheme. The venue was also excellent. It was the hottest day of the year but stayed cool and fresh. Jenni's sharing of her knowledge and expertise helped to set rug making in context and helped me to gain confidence and enthusiasm for the art/craft. Many thanks Kathy"

Jenni's Rag Rugs responded:

" Glad you enjoyed it Kathy and I look forward to seeing what you made, when it is finished."
