Stuart Jefferies reviewed: Woodturning One to One Course

"What a great day, from the coffee offered almost as soon as I arrived, Paul took me through some essential safety elements first and then it was into turning the platter. A delicious lunch was followed by more tutoring turning a bowl. For anyone who has watched the videos of wood turning on YouTube and thinks it looks really easy, I can assure you it isn't although Paul does make it look so. With immense good humour and patience, Paul repeatedly corrected my errors until it finally clicked as to what I should be doing. I came home with a platter and bowl which my wife keeps picking up and commenting on how smooth they are. 55 years after I last turned anything on a powered lathe, it is great to come home with something that is useful and beautiful to look at. I will be back for more."

Paul Hannaby Creative Woodturning responded:

"Thanks for the feedback Stuart, I'm glad you enjoyed the day. "

Michaela Bubnova reviewed: Printing with Leaves - Mells Tithe Barn

"The tutor was very friendly and approachable and was generous sharing her extensive knowledge. The course itself was fun and with potential to try out the techniques at home. The venue was comfortable with easy parking. My only suggestion would be for a one page handout covering the basics and with the details of material suppliers."

"The workshop I attended (making a Lampshade) was very professional. Clare was such a good teacher and took us, step by step, to the finished product, which was beautiful. I am going to attend another workshop for gel printing, which I look forward to. Her workshop was a really nice environment to work in and I was amazed at the range of beautiful products she has made for sale. Well worth a go if you want to try something new."

Louise & Ian Brereton reviewed: Introduction to fused glass (1 day) in Sheffield, South Yorkshire

"We had a fantastic day at the fused glass workshop which I attended with my husband. Without any fuss, Martin very kindly let us change the course we’d been booked on as the original date subsequently clashed with a family event. The day was absolutely brilliant - I came away enthused and wanting to make more fused glass items (& I am not at all artistic!). Martin is an excellent teacher, demonstrating and explaining techniques before encouraging practice and checking each individual had grasped the skill. He gave individual advice and tips to improve technique where needed. Martin has a lovely manner and answered questions throughout the day. He encouraged attendees to produce both the stated pieces and additional items, offering advice and expertise about what might work well without stifling people’s creativity. Martin has lots of examples of what is possible to create using different techniques and resources and he’s very encouraging if you have your own design ideas as he advises attendees to look at various websites prior to attending the workshop. Martin has a great choice of materials and colours to work with. I particularly liked being able to select different sized glass to work on. As the day drew to a close, Martin explained simply how each piece would be fired and why to each attendee. The finished products were available for collection or posting in just a couple of weeks. They were well packaged and intact on collection. We would highly recommend this fun day at Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet which has a lovely cafe with great food too. "

Martin McAssey Glass responded:

"Thank you for such a lovely review, I'm really glad you enjoyed the day and I hope to see you again in the future. "

It was so fun - I would love to do it again!"

A.Douglas reviewed: Beginner's Spinning in Newcastle

"I really enjoyed this course which I undertook today (29/9/23). Kate is really knowledgeable and keen to pass on that information to her participants. There is sooo much to learn I was supported and guided through each step of the process and patiently assisted when it went wrong - which was frequently. I left with a skein of my own spun yarn!. I would highly recommend this course. Don't be nervous-have a go"

Lazykate Textiles responded:

"Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this review. I'm so pleased you enjoyed the day and felt you learnt so much. Really looking forward to seeing what you make in the future on your own wheel Happy spinning Cathy"
