Kathryn reviewed: 2 Hour Fused Glass Workshop with Glass Quarter Designs

"Honestly the most fun I’ve had in ages. Jane is so charismatic and witty, she had us in stitches the whole time. Fab balance between teaching a craft and giving the learner the freedom to express themselves. Jane demonstrated the techniques, then was on hand to help with any tricky bits. She welcomed our ideas and showed us various ways of achieving in glass what we had sketched on paper. She was very encouraging but not patronising and she really knows her craft. The course was fairly priced too. I have attended craft courses before which cost the earth and weren’t nearly as good as this one. There was no scrutiny over the amount of materials we were using to achieve our design which meant it was really relaxed and fun. I will definitely be visiting again. Thank you so much Jane. "

Ani Marshall reviewed: Sculpture workshop two days with Jo Garden Art in beautiful rural Norfolk/Suffolk border setting

"Wow! What can I say? From the moment I saw the course I was excited to attempt my own garden sculpture. The venue was incredible, full of creative inspiration, run impeccably by the very talented Jo, always on hand to support.. Every stage of the sculpture was well planned, and support was offered when needed with hints and tips along the way. I’m so happy with my creation. Thank you. It really has been the highlight of the year. I have decided to return, but the big question is what to make next!"

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Ani! Your large ear scratching hare was so much fun - it will be interesting to see how the 'blackened iron' finishing paint will mature over the next few weeks when he is outside. The splashes of bronze metal paint will patinate to blue/green and the blackened iron will remain a dark colour with burnt orange rust in places. Should be WOW! Jo xx"

Emma Thackham reviewed: Beginners Silver Jewellery Course

"What a fantastic, patient, professional tutor! Mark created a totally bespoke day to help me explore all the techniques I wanted to learn and more. This is more than your average beginner day. I came away with a lovely ring and pendant and more importantly, skills and knowledge to inspire my learning journey. Mark’s workshop is a professional set up and a relaxing Haven from the outside world, with all the tools you could need. Top Tip! Check your directions don’t just rely on Sat Nav as it’s in a real beautiful spot with little reception. (Or find a local postie to direct you like I did). A perfect creative retreat for a fab day. "I had no idea what to expect from the two day course with Jo but to say I was blown away was an understatement. Everything from how welcoming Jo and Andy were to the incredible time, effort and energy that gets put in to giving you the best experience possible was incredible. Trudi reviewed: Stained Glass course

"My friend and I did this one day course whilst on holiday. It was fanatastic. Keith is really attentive and we both went home with a large piece of stained glass that we were really pleased with. We went with sketches that were way above our capability but with a lot of help from Keith we got them made. With 2 people only on the course the tuition is spot on. Would totally recommend."

Antique and Period Glassworks responded:

"Thanks Trudi it was a fun day 👍"

Jenny Humphreys reviewed: Bargello Needlepoint Workshop

"I really enjoyed the Bargello with Nerrisa Pratt. She made us smile and laugh whilst keeping us learning about a new craft. She made sure that we all had the right materials to complete the wall hanging we started in the class. She gave us hacks to help us thread needles easily and good advice on the amount of thread to work with. We had a good choice of thread to use, from a recognisable brand. She also talked about starting small businesses and used IT links to show us more information . I’m half way through my project and looking forward to posting a picture on the CLP Facebook page. Thank you CLP for running such good courses at your pleasant venue at St Martins. "

P reviewed: Router Day Class

"NOT a good course. I used the router for 15 seconds in 9 hours. The rest of the time was just talking and showing us through a trend magazine. The guy was really nice but in my opinion half day could have been talking and safety, then the afternoon actually doing cuts and then being able to ask questions that arise while using the router. It’s like having a driving lesson but not using the car. "

Great British Woodshop responded:

"Sorry to hear the course didn’t meet your expectations but I am a bit confused by the comments. We covered everything that is listed in the course content which you saw when you booked. The group was encouraged to ask questions all through the day at various stages which they did, so plenty of time for questions. Your comments suggest you didn't use the router. About 50% of the day was using the router and everyone in the class used a router to create rebates, grooves, dados, mortises and profiles using straight cutting bits and bearing guided cutters on both the portable router in the morning and the table router in the afternoon. So there was plenty of hands-on for everyone on the day and you did the same operations as the other three students that day. By the way the class was 7 and half hours, we don't count the lunch break as training time. The class isn't designed as a practice day, it's to learn the capabilities, functions and operations of the router and how to use it safely. It could be that this class was below your skill level and that you are a more advanced operator so you were expecting something else other than what is described in the class content. In any case we always strive to give everyone a brilliant day so were sorry you didn’t go away with that. "

Elizabeth Hollman reviewed: Watercolour techniques for all - 4 week online course - Tuesday evenings via Zoom

"I recently attended one of Purnima’s water colour workshops. The venue was excellent having the benefit of great coffee shop! The session was very relaxed, friendly and informative. A lot of different techniques were covered during the class and by the end of the session we came away thinking we had had a very positive experience. I would certainly recommend anyone thinking about taking up water colour painting to give it a try. "

"Thank-you for your review and experience at the workshop. You have made so much progress with watercolours and have grasped the techniques well. Look forward to seeing you at the next workshop."
