Beki and Rob reviewed: Make a colour paper weight

"Steve and Angie were absolutely wonderful! It was so much fun! Friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. They guide your hand gently, so you feel safe and reassured when making your piece. Also - when booking, only your party will have that time slot, so it's private for your group. Definitely will come back with friends and family and highly recommend! "

Jennie Pyatt reviewed: Petersfield: Full Day Calligraphy Workshop

"Learnt alot and enjoyed the whole day. For my daughter & I the pace was right, taking us through the importance of nib pressure, practice and having a go. Emily explained all extremely well, encouraged us all and made the day a lovely learning experience. Introducing us to both nib and brush modern calligraphy. Would recommend the course to a complete beginner and those who want to build some confidence. We came away feeling, with practice, modern calligraphy was in reach and achievable. Now to practice."

Eve reviewed: Beginners Silver Jewellery Course

"I booked onto the full day course with two friends back in June. Learning all of the different techniques was so much fun and we’ve all come home with some really lovely pieces of jewellery. I made two rings and a pair of earrings which I usually wear every day! The teaching was paced really well with lots of room for questions and we all felt really comfortable using the tools / machinery. A great day out with the girls!! Thank you so much"

Linda Ward reviewed: Ceramic Christmas wreath making with Paula Armstrong

"Absolutely lovely wreath, tutor explained everything clearly and with a very catchy tune when preparing lots of leaves, balls, etc! I’ve never made leaves freehand before, it was much easier than I thought with the step by step instruction. I made mine a bit larger and I can’t believe I managed to make it so well, it looks fabulous."

Lara Morgan reviewed: Pembrokeshire slate mosaics with Wild Slate Workshops - Inspired by coast, land and legend

"A really wonderful experience learning a new craft - Niki helped me to go from absolutely no experience of working with slate or creating mosaics, to taking home two beautiful pieces made with materials that really speak of our locality. I almost can't believe these were made by me! All of the techniques are explained really well, Niki is helpful without being overbearing and all the tools you need are supplied, without it being too overwhelming. It was a really great day and I'm so pleased that I chose to do this workshop, highly recommended"

Phil reviewed: Knife making weekend Gloucestershire

"As a preface, I have zero practical ability, I haven't been in a workshop environment for over 20 years, and I certainly hadn't done anything along these lines before. I knew this was way out of my comfort zone, but I picked this course primarily on the basis it would expose me to a nice variety of disciplines (metalwork, woodwork and leatherwork at the least), and I'm so glad I did. I fully expected to make something a bit rubbish, but I thought I'd give it a go anyway. I am so ridiculously proud of what I managed to produce, and I think everyone who knows me is as baffled as I am that it turned out as well as it did. The guidance from Arian was perfect; he doesn't take over and do things for you, he gives a brief demonstration of the technique, then lets you get on with it, so you can honestly say that it's your own handiwork. That being said, he's always nearby to make sure you don't go too far wrong. As others have mentioned, not only do you learn how to make something beautiful and practical, but you also learn all about the materials used and the reasons for using them. Overall, I had a great weekend on this course. I'm extremely tired and achy, but it was absolutely worth it! Massive thanks Arian and co. for such a fantastic experience."

Nailsworth Community Workshop responded:

"Dear Phil, I'm delighted to read your review, and am so pleased that the course met and exceeded your expectations. Having been involved with knifemaking for so long, I aim to structure my courses with enough clarity and direction so that even the folk without previous experience walk off with work they can be proud of. You have certainly achieved that: thank you for your focus and hard work. I can still see your bushcraft knife with burr elm handle in my mind's eye! Do get in touch if you have any questions or pop by for a bit of sharpening as needed. Kind regards, Arian"

"We thoroughly enjoyed learning how to repair holes in woollen clothing. Julie was a great teacher and we’re confident in our ability to put this into practice now. Recommended for those looking to learn a practical new skill in a relaxed environment and be able to breathe new life into old jumpers, cardigans and coats.
