Phoebe Douglas reviewed: Candle making workshops

"Where to begin! Sometimes it can be quiet scary going to do a course on your own - this was not the case for Angharads candle making course. Instantly on arrival I felt at ease being greeted with a smile and a cup of tea. Angharad has a natural talent at making people feel relaxed in her company, which is something quite special. The course was fantastic. I learnt so much and feel confident in my new found candle making abilities. I left with more candles than I thought I would be and have been actively burning them all over my house! We worked with soy wax, rapseed, parafin and bees wax. So you really do learn a whole range of various techniques. The settings around you are completely and utterly idyllic. So peaceful, which adds to the therapeutic aspect of the whole course. I left feeling warm and happy, which I think everyone needs at the beginning of January! Angharad, you are a wonderful teacher and person and it was an absolute pleasure to meet you and to be welcomed into your beautiful home. Thank you for your patience and your kind nature. It really made the day what I needed it to be. Book this course!! It’s so worth it."

Joe Hagan reviewed: Needle felt workshop

"My original felting day was cancelled due to limited numbers so I was delighted to be able to attend a course with Louise at Frodsham and to discover the topic was a Herdwick sheep I was ecstatic as we used to have some when I was a child. Louise was an amazing patient tutor who clearly loves what she does. I adored the day and didn't want it to end but was so happy to come home with my little sheep now named Herbert. Now hooked on felting. Joe Hagan"

Annie reviewed: Oak stool making experience - rustic carpentry & green wood work

"I have just spent the day with Ian in his beautiful old barn (wearing many layers) and made the most lovely bespoke stool, a thing of real beauty. Ian is very laid back, but his knowledge and enthusiasm shine through, his positive encouragement makes you want to deliver the very best stool, his technique to get you to make an extra item (secret) to practice the skills required is really very beneficial and a total add on to the day. I can't recommend highly enough as a novice I have amazed my self at what I have produced, I will be going back to make a garden bench. Ian thank you."

Rachel Jennings reviewed: Mosaic one day workshop for adults with Caroline Jariwala, Birmingham

"I went on a taster course many years ago and now a repeat customer of Caroline’s. Having attended at least 6 courses if not more. Although an avid mosaicer myself I always learn something new, a new tip, a new brand or technique. Caroline’s enthusiasm, knowledge and chocolate fridge cake is always a draw."

Maria Davison reviewed: Candle making with afternoon tea

"I'm a bit late with this review, I attended a course in Sept- apologies. I had a brilliant day at my candle making course. Tracy made me feel totally relaxed from the point she opened her front door, making me feel comfortable. In terms of the overall experience, Tracy clearly knew her market. I attended the course as I had a long term interest in doping something creative, partly as a hobby but maybe as a small scale opportunity for Christmas markets and maybe Facebook sales. Tracy was able to give advice and guidance on where to buy what was needed, covered some of the legal stuff to be aware of but most importantly how to create great candles (and how to make best use of the left over wax so there was no waste. A great host with plenty of refreshments and cakes. I would definitely recommend Tracy to anyone interested in learning about candle making.....she made it so easy and so enjoyable."

Fiona Salmon reviewed: Make silver jewellery using precious metal clay or silver clay

"I took my dad on this course as we had had a rather disasterous experience with silver clay trying to do it on our own. Toni explained everything really clearly, let us try painting silver clay slip (from her own stock) onto leaves and we produced some lovely pieces (even if we do say so ourselves!)"

Sarah Singleton reviewed: Oil painting day - In the artist's studio with Laura Andrew - Lincoln

"Having not picked up a paint brush for over 30 years, my confidence wasn't at its best when I first contacted Laura about attending one of her classes however, Laura put me at ease immediately and reassured me this was a class for all levels. I was met with a warm welcome from Laura who not only is an extremely talented and accomplished artist, but is the lovliest person, making sure all your needs are met from the lunch and refreshments she provides, to that of my painting needs for the day. I was very keen to learn a new style of painting and having enjoyed using oils as a youngster, decided impressionistic approach was my way forward for the day. Laura was the best teacher I could have hoped for, she was imformative whilst being very supportive and encouraging with her sensitive and positive approach. I had the added bonus that I had a one to one class with laura and felt very privaleged for this very special time she gave me. Laura is a very generous teacher and had a genuine desire that I felt pleased with my achievements, which I was. I would highly reccomend attending one of Laura's classes in her beautiful studio with the gorgeous views over the park and cathedral. I will be attending another one of Laura's classes in the near future."

Alison Bartlett reviewed: Hot glass blowing taster course

"My husband, my 81 year old dad, and I went on the half day glass blowing course with Rachel and Fiona just before Christmas. What can I say except that it was fabulous! They were both so patient with us all and nothing phased them. They were welcoming, interesting, and a lot of fun but always with an eye on safety. The session was built up slowly so that we could understand and practice each stage so that it didn't turn out like a Generation Game experience. We were given assistance where necessary but I can definitely say that it was all our own work. It was a wonderful day and was well worth doing. Even though it took us a couple of hours to get there I am so glad we made the effort. We are still talking about going back again. Thank you to both Fiona and Rachel for giving us such a wonderful experience (and yes Fee, you do have a lovely singing voice! :o) ) xx"
