Linda Wright reviewed: Introduction to green wood furniture making - two days

"Can’t thank Peter and David enough for an amazing introduction to Green Woodworking. Never in my wildest dreams did I really believe we would all be returning with 8 much loved and admired pieces of furniture but thanks to Peter’s patience and excellent teaching methods that’s exactly what happened. We all stayed at the lovely Corner Cottage, just a few yards away from the workshop, and had a weekend to remember. Can’t speak more highly of the course and am now wondering when I could squeeze in one of the five day courses!"

Jazmine reviewed: Firebird Forge Blacksmithing School

"Brought as a Christmas present for my boyfriend Callum and we loved every second of it, even if we did get lost. Mort was incredible and helped us both with our different projects. I made a candle holder and Cal made various knives, my favourite being a viking knife. Mort then took us to a lovely little pub for lunch where we had a great chat and Cal was asking about various ways to try and get into the industry and Mort had all the answers. After lunch we then carried on blacksmithing and I was definitely struggling but Callum was loving every second of it. Once we both finished, Mort polished off the candle holder in beeswax and etched one of Callums knives. At this point I was playing with the wellbehaved dogs. As soon as we got in the car to pull away, Cal wanted to go back and he definitely will. What an incredible day! Thank you Mort!"

Debbie Taylor reviewed: Create a ceramic animal sculpture with Twisted Earth Ceramics at Ilkley Manor Studio

"Hi Richard, I just wanted to drop you a line to thank you for your awesomeness today. I can honestly say I've never been on a course where I felt so chillaxed & supported in achieving the set brief. You need to give yourself a massive pat kind on the back( cow kind of course) for today's sculpture course on how fab the experience was from learners perspective. I feel your enthusiasm in what you do, radiates & projects into your classes, making the whole experience much more rewarding. This infectiousness as left me feeling inspired. Idd love to come back & join you again for a different course later in the year All the best Rich & thanks again"

Andrew Collinson reviewed: Straw skep hive making course - with Bees for Development

"I really enjoyed the course. Lots of good tuition to get you started and making your skep. All the materials were provided in abundance as well as a specialist tool called a fid. These were for us to take away so that we could complete our skep at home. I now have a nearly completed swarm catching skep ready for the swarming season. I also intend making a couple of skeps to keep bees in. Good food and refreshments too and a lovely relaxed atmosphere made this a very enjoyable and productive day. Many thanks to BfD and Nick."

Sue Vincent reviewed: Introduction to green wood furniture making - two days

"As complete and utter novices with all things DIY we were a little nervous when we gamely agreed to attend Peter's two day course with a groups of friends. We needn't have feared; both Peter and Dave were unbelievable patient and caring - helping every step of the way and never once deeming a question too silly or irrelevent. We have had a fabulous weekend, full of laughter, fun and even learning a new skill. We would highly recommend the course and we are now the proud owners of two lovely walnut and birch footstools."

"We went on a two day course with friends. A lovely way to learn a new skill, have some fun, relax and forget about the stresses of everyday life and spend time with friends. The course was very well run, in a friendly and informal way. Peter and David got the right balance between instruction and letting us have a go, and we all came home with furniture that we love and are proud of. Full of enthusiasm for our new skills and we would definitely recommend the course to anyone."

"Loved every minute! Ciaran’s teaching style is relaxed and encouraging, I learnt so much. When I thought I was struggling with a technique, Ciaran gave me hints and tips and never rushed me, letting me get there in my own time. I really appreciated his tutoring style and sense of humour! I was a total novice but now have the confidence to pick up a chisel/ plane or saw, knowing how to use and look after them....properly!"

Stephanie bancroft reviewed: Glass blowing for beginners with Jon Lewis

"I would recommend this course for anyone who wants to try something different or for anyone looking for a great present for someone else. Only 3 on the course so lots of time for each of us to have a go and we learnt from watching each other. Jon is extremely patient and keeps the atmosphere down to earth and relaxed even though the glass blowing itself is an intense and totally absorbing experience. The finished objects are beautiful and unique."

"I’ve just spent the morning in Kerry’s kitchen (Can to Candles) making my very own candle. It was a really lovely relaxed atmosphere and I met some lovely people.
