Handmade canes, beads and jewellery from Polymer clay in Bedfordshire.

Whether you have worked with Polymer clay or not, let's get creative!!
Polymer clay is a bakeable clay, which comes in different brands and colours.
I personally use Premo by Sculpey for workshops as it conditions so well.
Many students have mentioned how they remember polymer clay from their childhood and are amazed that it has progressed into such an inspiring and interesting craft.
Now together we can have a creative day and make Handmade Beads and jewellery in Polymer Clay.
You will get to choose in advance three complementary colours from the Premo range.
The workshop includes 'cane' building, bead making and jewellery composition, all in one day.
I also demonstrate other designs, for level 2 or the Masterclass for you to consider for any future bookings. I will also recommend other resources, tools and books.
What we can create together will be something completely unique and bespoke and you will be the only one with it!
Compliment your own favourite colours and clothing. Be inspired!!

I offer 3 levels in cane building and bead making.
Level 1: I will teach you 3 cane designs with 3 colours of your choice.
You will leave with a completed piece of jewellery, ready to wear, plus the skill to make more.
Plus hints and tips and a free gift of a hole cutter, a hat pin for making holes in your beads and a fine cutting blade.
Level 2: Same as above but with more in-depth cane designs.
Plus hints and tips and a free gift of hole cutter, a hat pin for making holes in your beads, plus a fine cutting blade.
Level 3: A master class in cane building and finish your project to a high standard.
I can consider ideas you may have seen and maybe not tried and would love to have a go at it, happy to explore any new ideas!
Plus hints and tips and a free gift of a hole cutter, a hat pin for making holes in your beads and a fine cutting blade.
Only canes and beads will be made at this level, as the expectation is that the student will be able to put their own jewellery together.

All the student needs to bring is a small container to take home any spare clay and canes.
There will also be an opportunity to purchase Premo by Sculpey clay at a competitive price.
I also offer a discount for more than one student, so if you bring a member of your family or a friend, I will reduce both your fees!
I can accommodate up to 2 students in all.

The student will inform me of colours in advance from the Sculpey /Primo range.

Be a walking work of art, wearing wearable art!!

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.

What's included in the price?

I include everything for levels 1 and 2 required for the day, all clay for all 3 levels, spacer beads and findings to complete your project.
Lunch is provided too, which will be a homemade soup and homemade bread (both suitable for vegans), plus refreshments throughout the day.

I had a wonderful day with Bernie learning new techniques with polymer. She has a wealth of experience and is very happy to share those essential tips and techniques which take your work from passable to magnificient! Although Bernie had planned our session from our early discussions, she was also happy to follow up a particular interests as I have been working with clay for a while now - we covered mica shift and how to use an extruder properly (I am never making bullseye cane any other way!), natasha canes and finishing techniques - and all with a sense of fun and exploration together. Lunch was delicious homemade soup and bread - I can't recommend a day with Bernie more highly - thank you for a real treat of a day!

Response from Treasunique:

What a delightful and creative day we had Maggie, and thank you so much for your review, so very kind.
So glad your hubby picked up on something you wanted to do!
It was fun sharing those things with you, as you have great aptitude for polymer clay.
I am looking forward to seeing your future projects and do send me some photos please :)
Just playing around with different designs and coming up with something brand new was a surprise too!! LOL
I hope you will remember everything, as you know you just have to ask!!
Thanks again and God bless

I cannot recommend this course enough. Bernadette is a fabulous tutor, she is very patient and has great knowledge and talent. Bernadette guides you to create unique and professional look jewellery in the colours of your choice. I feel truly inspired following my day with Bernadette. Her work is stunning, the pieces she had on display were beautiful. I cannot wait to create more pieces. Thank you for being such an inspiration and for helping me to create something that I feel very proud of. Truly wonderful.

Response from Treasunique:

Bless you Cheryl, it was a delight to have you over for the workshop, and really once you had the 'canes' prepared your work just 'took off'!! You created a stunning piece of work which I am sure will be worn with great pride and joy by your cousin. Well done for letting your creativity expand. I look forward to hearing what she thinks of it! Thanks for the lovely response.

Thank you, Bernadette. I thoroughly enjoyed my creative day with you! I was chuffed with the first set of beads I made. But couldn't believe how professionally complex the beads had become by the end of the day! I can't wait to try out these new skills - I just hope I can remember all the steps! I would thoroughly recommend Bernadette and this course to anyone who is even vaguely interested - I guarantee you'll be hooked by the end!
p.s. Thanks also for the yummy soup and bread.

Response from Treasunique:

Also how enthusiastic your were in all aspects of the process, all the best as you move along in your new skill of designing jewellery!!
You already have a customer wanting to buy your blue set!!

I had a very enjoyable and relaxed day and Bernadette was a very patient teacher, as I was a beginner using polymer clay. I anticipated the process to be very complicated and was amazed to find how easy it was to produce a variety of canes and turn these into my beads. I soon realised that the only limit was my imagination.I am now looking forward to practicing cane and bead making and would certainly attend an another day with Bernadette to improve and expand my skill base.

I can highly recommend Bernadette's home made soup and fresh bread.

Response from Treasunique:

Oh Gillian you are so kind!! Thank you for sharing such an enjoyable day with me, so happy you found it easier than expected.
It was great to see how confident you were when the canes were ready to turn into beads and of your own compilation.
I would be very happy to see you on a return visit (ChuffChuff) LOL :)

One of the most enjoyable days I have had for a long time. I do a little bit of polymer clay work but always wanted to learn about making canes and learnt so much. Bernadette was a joy to spend the day with as she is passionate about her craft and loves sharing her knowledge. She was able to adapt the day to my needs, going at a comfortable pace but stretching me as well which was perfect.
Cannot recommend this course more highly for both beginners and experienced people. I came away with an exquisite set of beads that I am wearing with great pride.
Thank you Bernadette.

Response from Treasunique:

Bless you Maureen, what a lovely review, so kind of you, and hope this is a launch into new arenas of creativity for you.

This was the best thing I have done in a long time. Bernadette whilst not only creative and very passionate about her craft was also welcoming and friendly. She was a fountain of knowledge and was enthusiastic to share it. She was also very encouraging whilst learning the new techniques. I would highly recommend this to any creatives out there, even beginners as I am. Thank you Bernadette.

Response from Treasunique:

Sylvie, thank you so much for your review, it was great to have you here and being so enthusiastic with your natural ability, from your cake decorating background!! Well done for all you achieved, a lovely day :)

We were looking for a surprise activity for a friend - it was a surprise for her and we needed to adapt times and content of course a little to fit it round everyone. Bernadette was amazingly helpful in working with us to create a fun, chatty day where we made some amazing colourful jewellery - I cannot believe i had it in me! She is encouraging and cajoling - perfect mix to make sure everyone ends up feeling that they have achieved something truly creative. Bravo and can whole hardheartedly recommend.

Response from Treasunique:

What a great day with you 3 lovely students, it was such fun as your friend thought it was archery related!!
So to bring that surprise together well done Mandy!!
Also for all your willingness to be adventurous in a totally unaccustomed medium!!
Great results all round ladies!
And hope to see you all again in your neck of the woods, sometime in the future!

Thank you sooo much to Bernadette for a fabulous day making jewellery. I had a brilliant day and was made to feel very welcome. I was a complete beginner so Bernadette guided me through lots of different techniques of making the canes and I produced a beautiful bead necklace with matching earrings. As well as taking home my new jewellery, I was also able to keep the extra canes that I had made as well as a few other little freebies. I would highly recommend this course to anyone interested in jewellery or clay or both! Thanks again Bernadette x
