For those who love a bit of glitz and glamour!
Polymer clay is a fascinating medium with which to use a range of metallic foils as the effects that can be achieved are seemingly endless. On this course, you'll learn how to prepare your clay and apply imitation gold, silver or copper leaf to a clay sheet. We will enhance the effects of the foil by adding alcohol inks - the patterns and effects you can create are simply beautiful!
Everyone will design their own necklace and make a selection of one-of-a-kind ‘flat’ beads. Once these have been cured, you'll sand and polish your favourites to string. You’ll take home a gorgeous finished necklace and earring set, along with any spare pieces we may have made along the way!
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 4 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
This workshop includes the use of all tools, equipment and materials to make the project. You will need to bring a pack lunch and drinks for the day. Free private parking on site.
If you are unable to make a published date, please get in touch as I'm always happy to run workshops on demand. No minimum number required and no extra cost.
We have a 4-week cancellation policy, if you do require your course to be rescheduled please contact the course provider, Jo, who will be happy to offer you one opportunity to reschedule.

Jo's workshop was just what I needed! I booked the course with 2 other friends pre-lockdown and was so excited to be able to finally go ahead with it. Jo had made changes to her impressive studio to allow for social distancing and ensuring we all felt safe. The surroundings to her studio are beautiful and add to what was a truly relaxing day. It was lovely to be able to shut the world away and be engrossed in learning a completely new skill.
Jo was accommodating to all of our requests and very patient as we all worked at varied speeds. She was able to offer her expert advice when needed and guidance and has a wide variety of resources and equipment at hand to use.
I feel she should advertise these courses for mindfulness as I left feeling so refreshed and relaxed. If she ever considers a weekend retreat I'm there!
Response from West Country Creative Ltd:Annie, thank you for your comments. I'm thrilled you felt refreshed after your day, and hope you enjoy wearing your necklace. Thank you too for waiting for the course to take place when lockdown eased, your support is very much appreciated.
A lovely day. both my daughter and I really enjoyed it. a very relaxed atmosphere and beautiful setting. Jo is incredibly kind and helpful. Very well set up studio with everything you need. Jo had done a brilliant job with setting everything up to take into account social distancing with covid-19 and plenty of hand sanitiser/ wipes etc available. we felt very safe. We really enjoyed learning this technique and everyone made some lovely jewellery. My daughter even said that she didn't know it was possible to make such nice jewellery out of polymer clay! this is my 3rd workshop with Jo and i highly recommend her.
Response from West Country Creative Ltd:Hi Helen, thank you for your feedback - much appreciated. It's always good to know when someone's expectations have been exceeded!
I joined Jo for a course pre-covid and now this one. Jo has spent a lot of time and effort to make us feel comfortable and safe, without losing the personal touch.
She is very patient, kind and a good teacher, and she really pays attention to detail, ensuring that the finish is very professional. I created a lovely necklace and earring set, in fact I can't quite believe how nice it is, so I'm really chuffed. In fact the 3 other participants creations were equally lovely. I love the range of colours and and also the range of things Jo can teach you. (I'm booked on two more workshops, so guess I'm hooked!)
Thank you Jo, so very much.
Response from West Country Creative Ltd:Hi Diane, thank you for your feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed your day - it was good to see you again. It's great to be back up and running!
A lovely way to spend the day with two friends. Beautiful calm surroundings and light and airy workshop with all social distancing and health and safety in place. I prefer smaller jewellery and Jo was happy for me to make pendants and earrings instead of a larger necklace. The experience was so relaxing and Jo has a wealth of knowledge and a calm and encouraging nature. Thank you so much we will be back when we can all agree on which workshop to do next!
Response from West Country Creative Ltd:I'm so pleased you enjoyed your day. Thanks again for coming.
Thank you Jo, a very enjoyable day. It was my first Foray after the Covid 19 lockdown and I was a little concerned about meeting others in a room but I have to say you had that room organised perfectly with plenty of sanitiser and other precautions. I felt very safe.
You were an excellent teacher explaining each stage of the process so clearly. There was a vast selection of materials and colours to choose from and supported help when needed. I came away with a lovely necklace, more confidence to mix with others and eager to come again to the studio.
Response from West Country Creative Ltd:Hi Maggie, thank you for your feedback - I'm glad you felt safe and enjoyed your day. Thank you for coming, it was a pleasure to meet you. Jo
Such an enjoyable day - I thought I'd make one necklace but ended up with a brooch, a pendant and three pairs of earrings as well! Jo is an excellent instructor with the right balance of teaching new skills while allowing each participant to make their own choices. The course numbers allow plenty of time to help each person and each of us came away with something special and unique.
Had a fabulous day with Jo learning a totally new skill. The workshop held in lovely surroundings was exciting, absorbing, interesting and informative and Jo was a great instructor. I was so pleased to leave with a necklace, pendant and earrings and full of new ideas to take forward! I loved every minute and now can’t wait to attend the button making course with Jo shortly.
This is an excellent one day course. Jo is a very good and patient teacher. I made several items of jewellery (I surprised myself by actually finishing them all before the end of the day!) and they are extremely pretty. There was one other person present in this particular class and we were both surprised at just how different our jewellery turned out. I would recommend this course to anyone, you do not need any previous experience in polymer clay or jewellery making to create lovely items.
There were just two of us on this course, so it was almost one-to-one tuition! The studio is pretty new and very nice, warm, pleasant views out the window of passing pheasants, squirrels and a rabbit posing and eating a dandelion. When it came to the crafting itself, we both made rather a lot of finished items (necklaces, earrings, cufflinks) and what was most impressive was that despite using the same basic materials and identical techniques we ended up making items completely different in appearance to one another. Jo was very helpful in teaching us (and keeping us supplied with tea) and I would thoroughly recommend this course.
Response from West Country Creative Ltd:Many thanks David. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I had a lovely day with Jo yesterday making a sparkle necklace and a LOT(!) of buttons.
Jo was very flexible and adapted her workshop content because I wanted to make sparkle buttons as well. They will become haloes for musical angels at a couple of WI workshops later this year. I was so grateful to Jo for being so flexible and I loved the results. I also had time to make, with Jo's assistance with the fiddly bits, a bead necklace for myself.
Thanks, Jo for a lovely day.
