Jan reviewed: Mindful Mosaic workshops with Dionne Ible - Bedfordshire

"I had a thoroughly enjoyable day at a Dionne's. Her instructions are easy to follow and you get stuck in almost straight away, there is plenty of help and encouragement, and the time absolutely flies. I feel I have learned enough to embark on projects at home. Ample coffee, biscuits and cake, though you don't want to stop to enjoy them! If you're thinking about trying this, I say go for it, you'll have fun and learn something new at the same time."

Jane Seddon reviewed: Glass Fusing and Slumping for Beginners and Improvers

"Have just spent a Fantastic day with Jean & Janice at their workshop. The group of people that attended were brilliant and made myself and the other two newbies feel very welcome. It's like sitting in a room that is a cross between Aladdin's cave and an alchemists lab...you want to try everything but don't know the formula !! The ladies were great at explaining the basics (including the very important health and safety) and soon had us working on our first piece. I am still chanting the mantra of 'tin sandwich' and keeping my fingers crossed that the pieces I worked on turn out ok ! After a delicious lunch of homemade soups and breads followed by cake , we carried on with making , in my case a bowl ( other people worked on different shapes) All too soon it was time to finish. I can't wait to see how my first attempts turn out. O.k. I hold my hand up , I am hooked , I have booked to go again. I can't call myself a glass fusionista yet but who knows !!!!!"

Zoe Watts reviewed: Stained glass copperfoiling - beginners course - Witney, Oxfordshire

"The workshop was a gift from my brother. We both attended and made our own individual pieces. He designed his own holly leaf wreath and I designed a square mirror. We gave Ros a rough idea in advance what we've like to create and the colours and she had these colours available to view when deciding on final piece. Ros was both patient and supportive with us both, and offered assistance without taking over our work. Our session over ran, this did not bother us as we were just eager to finish our pieces and take them home to show them off. My hobbies are craft based. This was so much different but lovely to learn a new skill. I'd like to return one day maybe once I have my own house to create a unique piece. I would highly recommend Ros, she has all the time in the world to support you from beginning to end. A long but thoroughly enjoyable day. Thank you"

Rebecca reviewed: Friday mosaic making

"A rare opportunity for me to get creative which I very much enjoyed. Audrey brings lots of examples and a great choice of quality materials to inspire. She provides everything you need to explore this medium in whichever way you choose, as well being an invaluable source of friendly and knowledgeable "mosaicing" advice to help you make the most of the session. It was relaxed, friendly, inspiring and a really lovely way to enjoy a morning doing something arty and unique. I am very pleased with my mosaic creation and I'll definitely be back for more ... Thank you."

Reg Crowther reviewed: Intermediate woodworking course

"I have recently finished a ten week, one evening a week course making one of Ciaran's coffee tables in ash. I have learnt so much whilst making this table and would not hesitate in recommending his tuition. We normally started early and finished late, he didn't mind. During the course he was always willing to answer any questions relating to woodworking in general. I am in my mid eighties and have had no formal training, I have always enjoyed working with wood. I say it's never too late to have a go! Reg Crowther"

"Really enjoyed the various classes I have done with Matt. He is a fantastic teacher - endlessly patient and encouraging. He manages to inspire you and make you feel you can do it....& in fact you discover you can! It is great to be able to take away a piece of artwork which you have made. I am NOT an artist but I was pleased with my efforts. Stained glass is a very absorbing hobby. I shall certainly do more in the future."

Caroline Powell reviewed: Fused glass - make a coral bowl

"I really enjoyed this course. Ros was very friendly and approachable. She went out of her way to ensure that I got as much out of my 3 hours as possible. She was excellent at teaching and I never felt rushed. I loved the one to one experience. I learnt so much about glass cutting, how to develope a design, types of glass, and glass grinding. I couldn't believe how quickly the time went. I came away having made a lovely moose Christmas decoration. I really recommend this course and intend to come back to learn more. Nice coffee and mince pies too! Thank you Caroline"

Victoria is very knowledgeable, approachable and accommodating with lots of tea/coffee and cakes/biscuits to keep you fuelled throughout the day. This is my second course with The Willow Barn and I can't wait to do a third! If you are thinking about going on this course - do it and give it a go, I don't think you will be disappointed."

Ray reviewed: Basket making in Norfolk

"What an absolutely fantastic day. From start to finish, Julie was extremely professional, knowledgeable, & amazingly patient with us all. Julie is clearly passionate about basket making, & this shows with her depth of knowledge, understanding of the materials being used & also her understanding of the learner themselves. It was a true pleasure to spend the day with Julie & the other participants, all openly sharing experiences & information with each other. Our baskets were all completed, & were so much better than I expected, with a great sturdy quality feel! Proof that Julie really knows her stuff, & is genuinely happy to share her knowledge, gained through many years of experience. Like minded people, doing like minded things, with a wonderful host. Thank you Julie."

David Williams-Jones reviewed: Wood turning tuition, New Forest, Hampshire (1 day) (2 people)

"The results of a half day of tuition were beyond expectation. Graham's simple, calming approach - and the trust that he showed in his raw novices as they tackled their first piece - not only meant that we had the opportunity to learn, hands on quickly but also to actually produce something that had the capacity to surprise the whole family. He instilled confidence throughout. A first rate experience, a great introduction to wood turning and well worth a long drive (twice in my case!) to get there."

Soup, tea and like minded people. Highly recommend this course."

Hanisha reviewed: Fused Glass Workshops for beginners & experienced

"Ali is a great mentor and has immense skills that she just wants to share. The value of the skills, knowledge and experience that you get is just brilliant value for money, not to mention the glass pieces that you have the pleasure of saying that you have made. I did it with adult friends and family who couldn't agree more about how calming and fun the experience was. Would recommend it to all who just want a brilliant time learning something new from a great teacher. Ali has amazing ideas and inspiration for making something come to life in your work. Would definitely recommend to all as a fun afternoon. And have been back myself and will be in the future"

Chris McAlpine reviewed: Beginners 10 week woodworking course NO LONGER RUNNING

"Wanted to do something different from sitting in the office all days so I signed up for Ciaran's 10 week beginners course with no preconceptions. Had an absolutely great time - Ciaran is an excellent teacher, patient, encouraging and really knowledgeable and experienced. Nothing was too much trouble for him. The group I was with were also great fun and really supportive of each other. Each week we built on our skills including learning sawing and planing techniques. We also learnt lots of hints and tips which I hope to put to good use in the future. The piece of furniture I produced over the course of the 10 weeks has given me confidence that I can do so much more. This is all down to Ciaran and the support and skills he has developed in me over the 10 weeks. I would thoroughly commend this to anyone wanting to learning hand woodworking skills."

Julie I reviewed: Needle felting course with Furzie at Saltisford Canal Trust, Warwick

"My first craft course ever and it was really fun. I felted a hare which I adore but which unfortunately gained the name "snot" when at home as it was discovered that you could put your finger up his nose; a design fault easily rectified although the name has stuck! The day flew by! :) I thought I wouldn't get anywhere near finishing but I was wrong. The course gave me all the skills and confidence to easily make a few final touches and adjustments when I got home . I found out that it is impossible to go wrong felting, absolutely any mistake is easily and quickly mended. I can't wait to get more wool and try to design another creature. Michelle was very friendly and patient and has given me a new hobby which I think I will love. Thank you :)"
