Hello! Please note that we are only running Live Online Workshops between now and June. Please do check out our Online Workshop listings for more details.
Have fun turning old t-shirts and forgotten favourites into recycled works of art with the age-old skill of rag rugging. In this half day class you will begin a rag rug wreath, learning along the way:
- How to use the rag rug equipment
- How to work with hessian
- Materials (selecting & preparing)
- Both rag rugging techniques (loopy & shaggy)
You will be provided with all the materials you need during the class but as the charm of rag rugging is often in the memories attached to old clothes, you're welcome to bring along any of your own clothing you’d like to incorporate, particularly if you have clothing with sentimental value that you'd like to use. There will be a good selection of fabrics to choose from on the day so you don't have to make a traditional Rag Rug
Our rag rug teacher, Elspeth Jackson, is one of the leading rag ruggers in the country. She is one of the expert teachers at the Knitting & Stitching Show, has had a rag rug book, "Rag Rugs, Pillows & More," published on the subject and is a regular in craft magazines - you'll be in very good hands!
This class is suitable for all levels but do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.
If you will be redeeming a CraftCourses gift voucher on this course, the voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
This class includes everything you need for your rag rug project. You'll be provided with tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the class. Also included is a free rag rug latch hook to take home with you.
Had a brilliant time learning all about rag rugging. The course was really well structured with just the right balance of teaching and time for practice. Elspeth was a great teacher, really engaging and well informed.
