ANN FYFE reviewed: Photography Days

"I spent a wonderful day with Sue and Richard on a 121 basis learning all about apertures, ISOs and shutter speeds. Being August it was heaving it down so despite driving to Glenridding and hoping for the rain to stop it was not to be, so we managed to grab a few outdoor shots from the carpark, and then the rest of the day was spent in the workshop. I'm happy to say that Sue is great at improvising and I still managed to practice the skills I needed. My passions are flowers and macro, and I learned about how to improve my photos and get off auto. I would recommend this course to anyone, whether total beginner or (like me) someone with a bit of knowledge but an 'auto' addict."

Art by Camera responded:

"Thanks for that, Ann. We look forward to hearing how you get on with your new macro lens."

Jane reviewed: Marvellous Mosaic one day workshop

"My first time mosaic-ing and so glad I chose Lindsey's course! Not only did I learn how to mosaic but I left with a completed piece which I could be proud of and which is good enough to show other people! I've surprised myself but definitely couldn't have achieved it without Lindsey's expertise and ability to support me at my pace. Aside from the mosaic-ing this is a day to relax, to submerge oneself in the experience of playing (which we don't often allow ourselves to do as adults) and to enjoy the mindfulness of being in lovely surroundings. And yes, I'll be going again!"

Lindsey Kennedy Portfolio responded:

"Thank you so much for the lovely review, Jane. It is very much appreciated and I am very pleased that you enjoyed your day so much. Equally thrilled that you would like to come and have another go, or even have a go at home. It is such an accessible craft, and you certainly embraced it during the workshop. Thank you for taking time to share your experience."

Jon Stokes reviewed: Creating a Viking knife an introduction to forging and knife making at Bearded Pig Forge

"I did the one day basic blacksmithing course, coming out of the end of the day with a knife (which when you start the day with a rectangular piece of steel seems a bit daunting!). Spike is an excellent teacher, explaining and demonstrating each part of the process at a time, and the pace of the day never feels rushed. He's also really patient, helping where needed, but making sure you understand what you are doing. Overall a really, really fun day which I'd recommend to anyone. We also learned a bit about the history, chemistry and physics of blacksmithing as well. Will definitely be back soon to do some more :-)"

Julie Tayleure reviewed: Natural soap and skincare workshop

"What a fantastic day! I have been waiting so long to attend the skin care and soap making work shop, having been given a gift voucher from my children back in 2020. Due to the pandemic I have only recently felt able attend, but Nic has been incredibly patient and obliging allowing me to wait until now. And it was so worth the wait! I was immediately made to feel welcome by Nic and Ben. Very comfortable surroundings and plenty of tea and biscuits! It was soon very evident that Nic and Ben were very knowledgeable and passionate about their business and very generous in sharing this with us. A perfect balance of interesting theory and plenty of hands on opportunities, resulting a whole shoe box full of personally made goodies to bring home- balm bars, bath truffles whipped body butter and soap. I felt by the end of the day that I had been visiting friends. Thank you Nic and Ben."

Boo Cottage Botanicals responded:

"Hi Julie, So lovely to finally meet you! Thanks so much for the wonderful review :) we really appreciate it! Hope you enjoy using all of your handmade goodies and hopefully see you again, it was such a relaxed day for us too! Nic & Ben"

Sarah New reviewed: Natural soap and skincare workshop

"A fantastic workshop and great value. We had a choice of what products we wanted to make in the morning. The soap making in the afternoon was fascinating and I enjoyed the process as well as the end product, we were able to take home all that we had made with instructions of what to do with our soap. I cannot recommend it more highly. Nic and Ben are a great team and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. I will be recommending this to my family and friends. It is also in a beautiful part of the country."

Boo Cottage Botanicals responded:

"Hi Sarah, Thanks so much for the wonderful review! We're so glad you enjoyed it, as you say it was such a relaxed day for us too! See you soon, Nic & Ben"

"I had been meaning to purchase a router for some time but despite watching numerous YouTube tutorials, felt that I really needed hands on tuition to give me the confidence to use it. The router course was excellent with just the right balance of theory and practical and I can only say that I came away delighted. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone thinking of purchasing a router for the first time, regardless of your woodworking skills."

Carys Palmer reviewed: Marvellous Mosaic one day workshop

"This is the third time I have been on one of Lindsey's courses and as ever it was a wonderful and relaxing experience. She is such a good teacher and very inspirational. I am always amazed at how easy and so very achievable Lindsey makes it all feel. I am definitely hooked on mosaics now and even daring to do some small projects on my own, but I will definitely come again and would love to do a longer course to try a more challenging project. Thank you Lindsey for yet another great class."

Lindsey Kennedy Portfolio responded:

"You are very welcome, Carys. It was lovely to see you again and I'm so pleased that you enjoyed your third session with me! I will certainly think about a two-day longer course for 2020 so that people can try more advanced pieces of work. Watch this space! Thank you for your kind words, they are much appreciated."
