What's not to like about cake! This mat is enjoyable to make and would look lovely on any table for a celebration. The finished mat measures 42cm by 42cm. This applique penny mat kit contains all the woolfelt pieces needed ( manufactured by National Nonwoven) and the thread (DMC) - please note that the decorative 3mm buttons are not included. Stitches suggested are blanket, back and daisy stitch but you can adapt as you please. Use your mat to decorate your table and adorn with an ornament, a hurricane lamp or a vase of flowers to add colour and to show off all your hard work.

Since leaving my role as a primary school teacher I have continued to work with children as a private tutor. Having plenty of time on my hands, I also design sewing kits and run craft workshops. I have grown to love working with wool felt, which makes an appearance in most of my creations. The texture, colours and durability of it makes it a joy to work with.
