A peg loom is a very simple type of loom but is also very versatile and a lot of fun to use. You can make big chunky mats but also produce fine, decorative work incorporating the weaving techniques used on more traditional looms.
Students will start by making a little bag while learning to warp up and weave with a variety of materials. They may then learn to make patterns and pictures using hatching and shading.
What to bring:
Double knit cotton or wool with a high viscose content for the warp.
Warp threads need to be strong.
Wool of any type and thickness to weave with.
Any fabric you think will weave well.
Old clothing, scarves, any fabric that has been washed and ironed a lot. The fabric will be cut into strips.
Sewing kit to include a tapestry needle.
The tutor will bring peg looms for you to use.
Refunds are not available on this booking. Start dates may be amended on request.
