Willow Weaving 'Trug' Workshop

X

Description

This garden trug course will introduce you to weaving beautiful frame baskets. You will be shown how to create a frame, to add ribs to create the shape of the basket and add the weaving, designing your own pattern. This is a ‘slow’ craft session. Your tutor, Jane Roberts, has a passion for all things natural and weaving! Plus, a passion for running workshops for people who want to learn a new skill and have some fun whilst doing it! She has a BA in Fine Art from the University of Northampton and is a member of the Basket-maker’s Association. She has been delivering and managing community arts workshops and projects for over 20 years and is delighted to be working at Stanwick Lakes. The trug will be perfect for collecting fruit and vegetables from your garden or market. You will have a creative day in a wonderful location learning an ancient craft. The group will be kept to a maximum of 10 people so everyone will have individual instruction, help, and support. All materials and equipment provided. Please wear comfortable clothing or an apron. Participant review: "Excellent course, I am very happy with my end product. I feel confident to try it out on my own now, with plants from my garden. Great teacher. Lovely venue." "I really enjoyed the day, something I hadn't done before. Jane was really good, demonstrated each process and went around helping us all, to see if we needed help. When I arrived, Jane was very nice and explained a few things about the what to expect from the day. Jane was very well organised with everything in place for each person. She had different colours of willow and all the tools etc, that we would use over the day's course. I would recommend this course to anyone. I would like to do another at some point. Thank you Jane for an enjoyable day." The course will take place in our training barn at Stanwick Lakes, a beautiful 750-acre nature reserve and visitor attraction in the heart of Northamptonshire’s Nene Valley.
