Seasonal Willow Weaving: Festive Trees & Reindeer
Description
Embrace the festive season with this joyful half-day willow weaving workshop led by willow artist Chaz Friend. You’ll learn how to create two classic seasonal pieces — a charming willow reindeer and a stylised Christmas tree — using simple but effective techniques suitable for complete beginners. Once you’ve learned the basics of each item, you’ll be free to spend the rest of the session working on the piece you most enjoy, whether that’s perfecting your reindeer or creating a small collection of trees. This relaxed and creative workshop is a wonderful way to explore willow weaving while making natural decorations to treasure year after year. Chaz Friend is the willow artist behind Wayside Willow, sharing the craft of willow weaving with schools, community groups and adults across the Midlands and beyond. After 24 years as a primary teacher, Chaz followed his passion for heritage crafts and has been teaching willow weaving since 2014. Friendly, patient and endlessly enthusiastic about the possibilities of willow, Chaz brings warmth, humour and deep knowledge to every workshop. Our willow weaving workshops take place in our Heritage Craft Barn at Stanwick Lakes, a 750 acre Nature Reserve and Heritage site in Northamptonshire.
