About the Course
Two day mosaic course with Anne Schwegmann-Fielding.
Create your own panel using ceramic and glass tesserae along with a variety of recycled materials. Learn all the techniques needed to complete your own project under the guidance of experienced Mosaic Artist Anne Schwegmann-Fielding.
Mosaic is a wonderfully versatile medium. Using a range of colours and materials, you can transform simple designs into beautiful mosaics which will last forever!
The workshop enables you to explore techniques and materials whilst making an individual piece of work. We will be working mainly with the direct method, which is sticking tiles directly to the surface. The materials available are glass and ceramic tesserae, bathroom tiles, old china, buttons, mirror and other recycled materials, all in a range of colours from subtle to vibrant.
The day will provide all the basic techniques needed to complete further and more ambitious projects at home! There will be plenty of books to hand for design ideas, should you need them.
Personalise your work with any old bits of broken crockery or jewellery from home which you can’t bear to throw away – embed them into the mosaic and keep them forever.
Old Bank Studios offers a wide range of art, craft and textile courses and work-shops. Based in a glorious Edwardian banking hall, our fully equipped studios provide ideal spaces where students can work in a relaxed, ambient atmosphere. Whether a complete novice or an experienced artist you are sure to find workshops to suit your needs.
Located in the heart of Old Harwich, we are just a few yards from the Electric Palace Cinema. Harwich Town Railway Station is less than a five minute walk away, with hourly trains to Manningtree, where there are mainline connections to Colchester, Chelmsford, London, Ipswich and Norwich. If you are coming by car, there is normally plenty of on road parking, otherwise there is a public car park a one minute walk away. It is always possible to drop off right at our front doors.
