About the Course
Learn how to cut, shape and texture sterling silver sheet and wire to make three or four (or maybe more!) pairs of stunning stud and drop earrings - perfect for yourself or for presents!
The record for the number of earrings made in a workshop is 14 pairs - what will you make?
This workshop is suitable for beginners to jewellery making as it teaches many of the basic skills needed for more advanced skills, however those with previous experience will also find their skills tested and improved by the end of the session. In particular, the earrings workshop will teach delicate soldering skills to attach the stud fittings and earwires to your designs.
Only 8 places are available to ensure that everyone gets the help and attention they need.
Joanne Tinley is a jewellery designer and qualified teacher offering workshops in Hampshire. Please see my other course listings for further workshops available, or get in touch for more details.

What's included in the price?
Cost of the materials is payable on the day. The cost will depend on the amount of silver that you use but the earrings do not tend to use much silver. Previous students have spent approximately £10 on silver.
Tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits are in plentiful supply, but please bring your own lunch. We are a peanut-free venue, thank you.
I can't remember if we have done two or 3 of these earring workshops with Jo but what I can tell you is we can't wait to do another! I bought the first earring course as a birthday present for my sister a few years ago. Instead of just buying jewellery I thought it would be special to actually make the jewellery and spend the day together learning something new. It was the best idea because we had such a brilliant memorable day filled with laughter and fun and came home with a handful of beautiful earrings that looked super professional.
We did the earring workshop just before Christmas and gave some of our makes as presents that year- we both got, and continue to get, lovely comments about our earrings and people are always amazed when we say 'I made them'.
We enjoyed the workshop so much we booked to do the spinner bracelet one with our mum soon after and the three of us have come back to do this earring one again. It has become one of our pre-Christmas traditions to spend the day making jewellery with Jo together. Jo is a brilliant teacher, calm, precise and makes learning a joy. She gently guides you through processes at your own pace, helps when you are struggling or pushes you to do something more complex when you need pushing out of your comfort zone. All in all I couldn't recommend Jo and her jewellery courses highly enough! If you are looking to start from scratch or expand your skills Jo's your gal!

Response from Joanne Tinley Jewellery:Thank you for your kind words Jen! It is always lovely to have you in the studio and to help you make beautiful jewellery.
Jo is a fabulous teacher with the patience of a saint! I attended a silver earrings workshop following a Summer School with her and although had the basics I needed to perfect my soldering skills. I went home with four pairs of earrings which I admit only one found it’s way to my sister as a Christmas present 🎁
Jacqui Ready - - #25590
Response from Joanne Tinley Jewellery:Thank you for your kind review Jacqui. The earrings you made during the workshop were really lovely, I'm not surprised you kept most of them but I hope your sister liked hers!
Jo is friendly, welcoming and a wonderful teacher. She is really able to break things down step by step and patiently answers any question, explaining the hows and whys behind the process. I made several pairs of earrings, some I gave away others I kept for myself! Have since been back for further courses with Jo. Highly recommended!
Hannah - - #25559
Response from Joanne Tinley Jewellery:It was great to have you in the class Hannah! Your earrings were lovely, I'm sure the gifts were very well received! Thank you for your kind review.
I really enjoyed my first attempt at jewellery making. Jo is a patient and knowledgeable tutor, giving just the right amount of support and encouragement to participants. There is a good range of materials available and plenty of samples to spark design ideas. The studio is light and spacious and the atmosphere is relaxed making for an enjoyable and absorbing experience. I was able to make 7 pairs of earrings, of a standard that I was happy to give to friends as gifts. I would highly recommend the course.
Helen Woolley - - #25495
