Recycle that saucer - making mosaics with china

If you break something precious or sentimental, don't throw it away - use the parts to make a useful and attractive mosaic to be treasured. A few tips and you'll be sticking your pots in no time. Learn mosaic art making decorative pots or pictures using fun materials, including china. Car boot sales, thrift stores, junk or charity shops, garage sales, in every part of the world someone is disposing of old china - beautiful patterns and forgotten designs will bring your work to life in a way that manufactured tiles cannot do. Incorporating china into mosaic work is a great way to start off in mosaic and it's easy to do at home if you follow this easy instruction online. The course video is about 45 minutes long, allow 3-4 hours or so to work your way through the projects. It's easy to pick up and stop off. If you don't have a huge stack of china to hand, there are some suggestions here to help you pick out some additional materials to add to your projects. These are really great starter projects for new makers and they are quick to complete with no great financial outlay. It includes several easily achievable designs ideas for small, easy to source, terracotta pots - perhaps there is something suitable to cover at home already, an empty tin can or perhaps an old vase or container from the thrift store. These projects also make great and inexpensive gifts, with genuine heart! There is also a whole section of general teaching, cutting, sticking, laying tiles, all about materials, tools and grouting, so don't imagine your skills will be limited to only this project - the generous teaching is transferrable to mosaic making in general, a lifetime of creating beautiful things for your house or garden (most little bits of china can be placed outdoors when tucked up with some grout, extreme temperatures may damage the glaze but I find mostly they survive for years). YOUR TEACHER: Anne Cardwell I have appeared on ITV's 'Love Your Garden', written a book, 'Stylish Mosaics' and as well as running classes locally for the last 15 years, I have had an online presence for the last 18 months. I also make and sell ceramic pieces for inclusion in mosaic art (a quick way to get started). P.S After this why not make life really easy and try one of those kits (available on my website).
